His secret hack: be born with strong shoulders.

lu impy , is it too late for me to start at 53
@QuesadillaLover

Unfortunately, but so very true. Some people just have receptors that respond well to certain exercises. I had a friend who was 5'9 and 175 lbs, couldn't bench to save his life, squat was average good (335) but he could deadlift 545. That's more than 3x bodyweight. It was just easy to him somehow

@lu impy You make good points, but late bloomers do exist in the strength world in some capacity. Speaking in absolutes like that doesn't mesh well with something nuanced like strength training.

@@Sealed_Chamber true. It's weird with me, I'm 6'4 with long ass arms, can't really bench more than 315 but I can OHP 210 lbs
Interview summary : Mateusz : " I don't train shoulders because I don't have to. I train log and bar but bar not so much . I train axel. I'm strong , I win.

He has strong shoulders already that's why he doesn't train it that much. He focuses on things he's not very good at.
Thank you for continuing the Mateusz series. It's good to hear him talk about both his strengths and weaknesses so matter of fact. It's just information, no attitude, ego or boasting. It just is. On the bands on pressing movements for stability... I'm curious if they are anchored to the ground or hanging with weights suspended? From my own (MUCH lighter) overhead pressing and even squatting, I feel much more stable with band pressure when anchored, so I'm assuming he meant weights hanging from the bands. Pressing with weights hanging from chains makes me so unstable, especially at the top. Any idea if that's what he meant? On a side note, I'm always impressed how the foreign (foreign to me, being in the US) athletes speak English reasonably well, not being their native language.
@alexanderpatrus9588
4 жыл бұрын
Bill F he definitely meant the weights are freely hanging from the band's. I think he is doing it for a stability exercise to strengthen the little muscles and add more efficiency to the lift. It should be unstable when you do it and it's a great way to strengthen your overall lifting ability and prevent injury.

1. Log press 2. Barbell overhead press + bands 3. Dips Edit: Since we want to be like Mateusz, we should add a 4th movement, dumbbell overhead press. But since Mateusz is already Mateusz, he is too good at this event and doesn't need to practice.
Great guy! "My weakness is deadlift". And then he does 420kg in competition! What a beast.

Guys, he is right, do not focus on your strengths, if something is lacking on your body, do that more. for years I neglected my deltoides and legs now and finally you bringing them up and everything else is increasing.
What a totally brilliant channel this is! Nice one!
Please upload full version video content so we can take as much benefit from it
He has good shoulders insertion and big shoulders (all the 3 heads), good forearms and good lats. These 3 are the key for good overhead press power. Big z was the God of shoulders strenght, he has very big lats.
One thing I did, is press a keg that's almost full. You really have to balance it, as the liquid is moving.
For those who didn't understand (i don't know why, but anyway), he said what helps him is using his legs in the movement,putting straps with the plates on the bar and doing dips.
What a humble great athlete ! even in being so, he explained very well how to improve over head press ! ;-) ;-) great job guys, ...Mateusz keep it up !
Great video! Mateusz's English is very good!!!
He is definitely a beast 🤙🏽💪🏽🤙🏽

Secret hack: toffee
His voice kind of cracks when he says deadlift. I don't know if that's just in my head, but he'll be fine. He's so young, he will only get better.
Future WSM winner for sure
I think he will win AT LEAST 4 WSM. I hope, though, that he will win 6. I also think he will win either 3 in a row, or back-to-back twice.

Tell us more about hugging Martins- how do you incorporate the deltoids to make it more awkward?
I wrote a long message. Deleted it to write, "Kieliszkowski is the most amazing strongman I would have imagined could possibly exist." I never would have imagined one to have his personality and physique. I wouldn't have thought it conceivable.
Go big MAT - Z !
This cat is the future. 💯🌟🌟🌟🌟💯

Fantastic, modest guy ... with only one weak point .. deadlift .Besides, he is the strongest man in the world ..

WSM 2020 for sure. Since Hafthor is out doing the boxing match for morons, Podium is going to be: 1. Mateusz 2. Shaw (rejuvenated and fired up) 3. Adam Bishop (yes, edging out Martins... he's better than people think) 4. Martins OR 5. Tom Stoltman (possibly 4th) 6. Luke Stoltman

I think Novikov should be somewhere in the mix. To me he often seems like hit or miss, but that's because he comptetes more than any of the other guys, so with everything shut down and him not being able to do anything but train, I think we will see him come in very fresh and ready to show what he can do.

Interesting predictions bud, I think a lot will depend also on the events they choose. Shaw will dominate the static stuff but you can't go past Mateusz for the moving events. Whatever the case, it's going to be an awesome comp.
