    It's the way that the weights are set up, but true they don't necessarily have the correct technique. Maybe they need Anatoly as their coach!

    It also bothers me that on the sandbag lift, the first thing literally everyone does is blunder by spending energy to push it over and lower the bag's center of mass so that they have further to lift it up. Optimal strategy is to grasp it where it is. It's already symmetrical, there's no need to rotate it to begin with. They're all just copying the first idiot they saw with no improvements. That's not very competitive. Real competitors innovate the fastest.

  • @rp1894
    @rp18946 күн бұрын

    Pro tip for the organizers - It's depressing when you have 4 competitors going for reps and they get a combined 1. 4:20 The organizers really really screwed up by having the weights too heavy. You could have at least asked the competitors for feedback. The weights in this event were so poorly chosen to make me suspicious that it was done so maliciously to embarrass the women. Anytime I see a rep event and the weight is so heavy that some of the competitors can't lift it, I think they should have gone lighter. It's more exciting to see success than failure. Setting appropriate weights for Strongman events should be approached like an artform.

    And what's really worse is that is seems (the producer?) encouraged the women to keep trying after they fail the first lift. That 60 second round at 4:00 had 1 successful lift and 24 failures. Don't create stuff like this. Every failure was worse than the previous one, as they always are. No strength athlete does better the second try after a failure. You're just tiring out the athletes for the next round, which at this point I strongly suspect was your goal in order to embarrass them more as the event drudges on.

    I did calisthenics and light weights with higher reps for 3 years. Nutrition, sleep, and form on point. Took care of stabilizers. Did everything right and still developed degenerative tendonosis of shoulder and bicep tendons. This is much worse then a tear or rupture as it never wants to heal. I ammon month 20 and am still no where near 100% . I may never be again. Did every physical therapy program. Hired 2 different coaches, seen specialists, sports medicine professionals, had stem cell treatment with multiple billions of cells along with a PRP cocktail, pep tide injections, etc. I threw away over $14,000 for nothing. I found some movements that are s -l - o - w - l -y getting my tendons stronger. But I still have a long road ahead of me and I'm getting older. I have been a life long surfer and athlete. Never been out of shape in my life and still got snapped up. In the end you can do everything right but injury still could happen. I regret ever starting to train because I was already in excellent shape and chiseled from surfing all my life. I started training to gain a little more mass and strength. And because all I have ever heard was how important it is for older men to train. Big mistake for me. It brought me more muscle and a lot of strength. But it wasn't worth the hell I have been through. Being injured for so long created mental health problems as well as some problems with alcohol due to the hopelessness. If you are in good shape and are thinking about lifting, consider the risks over reward.
