Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on KZread!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

@@AbandonedandForgottenPlacesGly, quite simply put, you're an Aspie. We have an ornate compensity to focus on something our instincts, heart guides us to and we do our best to reach a unique conclusion. Logical problem solving. I would appreciate some better geology, where the heck is your Estwing model EO-22P, standard required geological equipment so you can expose some fresh rock and make comments about composition. Any maps you can find would make it even more interesting. A gold quartz vein quite often has several episodes of deposition, investigate each layer, is the gold associated with sulphides. Can you give the people, bring an economic geologist onto the show to explain the mechanics of deposition, zoning and enrichment. Your videos could become beneficial to students. Video conference would be the best.

Hey there Gly, the rich in bar mine was electrically powered by a hydroelectric generator. The money company built a dam across the alba, Fria river, approximately 1 to 2 miles upstream. Water was diverted down to the generating units via an elevated hanging pipeline. All of this is still in place. portions of it were hung from the cliffs, and other times it was supported by enormous piers. When you go out there again, you might want to check get out with your drone. It is 1000 foot drop from the top of the plateau to the bottom of the Aqua Fria river bed. Great job!!

Since you're in central Arizona, there is a ghost town not too far from Bloody Basin called Humbug. It was a gold mining town. I used to go there with my family in the 60s. Abandoned in the early 30s, it was still very intact 30 years later. (light bulbs still in their sockets, etc) The mine entrance is a vertical shaft inside a shed. We never went in the mine. I saw photos of the town about 10 years ago and it still looks to be in good condition. I think somebody bought it but they might be open to having it explored.

There's also an area next to the main trail I looked at last time I went through there that has white stuff all over the ground. Not sure if it's quartz or something else? First the "big tool" your Jeep had you "hamstrung" and then got all fixed and now you are working with a pulled muscle. Well, Jeep was fixed, now you have to give your "owie" area some rest so that it can heal, but none the less, you attempted to get out for an explore, which turned out to be more of a "re-con day". Thats okay, we, the viewer got to see the region you are in, while you are getting acquainted with it also. That drone sure comes in handy. Hey Gly… hope you get to feeling better! There some info on the web about the Brooklyn mine… started at the turn of the century 1900s as a gold and copper mine but reports talk about it being a hustle to sell stock shares back East for investor money as they talked that the crown king railroad was going to be built to it. The mining report in remember reading said the shaft went down 300 or 500 feet, but no true workings or little production. Right back at the black cliffs as you drop into the mine valley is a great native ‘village’ ruin and hundreds of petroglyphs on the face of those black rocks. Love that area. Get well!!!

A engine light that came on as you had replaced the oxygen sensors a few months ago happened to me. Use the best Google recommends and your light will go off after it's done to clean up a high mileage ole Bob. The one for cleaning up so you pass inspection. If you don't clean it up it might happen again. Then do it like they recommend, three or four times a year. How much are converters if you don't get it. Ole Bob is just dirty. Clean the MAF sensor and the PCV valve and it costs way less than replacing them.

Hello Gly. Hate to hear about the injury. Unfortunately, soft tissue injuries take FOREVER to heal, especialy when we're older and core strength isn't the greatest. I too suffered an abdominal strain that I wasn't sure what it was at first. I'm 59 and my core is a joke and my strain took almost 3 months to heal properly. Mostly because just as I thought I was good-to-go I would end up re-aggrevate it. Very frustrating injury. Hope it's just a strain and not a tear? Be careful with that injury because if it is (or becomes) a tear, you will be down for the count for quite awhile. Jim S.

at about 15 min....your in a wash....ever think about how long its been since anyone tried to drypan the bottom gravels in the bedrock traps found in this area.is it in the national park? so far this is some of your best work ive seen yet.i love your effort to depict how the miners cut down most of the bigger trees....i remember going to virginia city and part of its history.....many of the now barren mountainsides....had once been forrested....the trees were cut for mine timbers, and for use to heat homes and cook food.....today...barren mountainsides...also japanese beetle has decimated thousands of acres of forrest in my lifetime. so the question is.....if you came onto an out cropping....lets say quartz laced with visible gold....maybe like 500 ounces....would you leave it for others to enjoy its beauty....or take before the next person who surely would.....you are now becoming a poweful voice to show others the natural beauty in these mountains, and by taking us in the footsteps of paiute natives....and in showing stumps...and charcoal ovens and explaining the reasons....imagine cutting 4000 year old living bristlcone pines....to timber your mines....THE OLDEST TREES on our planet....back in the day they used what was nearby.... just think of how many young viewers of your videos....will choose to persue a career as a US FORREST SERVICE or NATIONAL PARK RANGER! This job requires a 4 year college degree...the pay is not much when compared to private sector.but the job,to educate the public ...to protect both people and preserve nature from human degredation...is important! and the reward i think is the satisfaction of knowing you have done the right thing.not chosen to be a greedy consumer....who exploits nature for a quik profit..... brent, you have many followers.please keep doing what your doing..you have grown into a very different person since leaving austin.. note: i was working near austin when 911 occured.i spent 2 months of 13 hr workdays...the highlight of my stay was a hike down into some canyons not far from where i was staying. on a sidecanyon explore i found this lone toad.. it was gold in color...not sure if rare but i think so... anyway we can bust our asses for years and what i remember is that on a rare.. day off...this toad sticks in my head over 20 years later.nature is great to clear your mind of trash.
