Scrooged (1988) Is a Masterpiece, and That Statement is Not At All Controversial

Resident lowlife Bankrupt Barry takes plenty of abuse during this holiday-themed movie analysis/ retrospective.
Audiences weren't sure what do with Richard Donner's Scrooged (1988) when it released in theaters. Many viewers initially found Scrooged's humor too dark and/or controversial, but over the years, this take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol has become a holiday favorite. Starring the legendary Bill Murray, along with favorites like Bobcat Goldthwait, Karen Allen, Carol Kane, Alfre Woodard, and David Johansen, this holiday masterpiece somehow presents Barry with an opportunity to throw shade at Jerry Seinfeld. Barry also explores Bill Murray's controversial history of abusing his castmates.
Remember to watch till the end if you enjoy the cutscenes--especially if you enjoy seeing Barry in terrible predicaments.

Alway nice to see someone balance criticize with humor - 10\10 review for the review. My family watches Scrooged every year since I was little and while I find the dark humor a little TOO dark sometimes, i feel like the movie itself does a better job of convincing you to consider and cherish others around you than the main character does. Which, in some way, is a better Scrooge-archetype than most. Yeah, three ghosts can scare the crap out of you and shake you up but only consistently improved behavior can really change the world. I hope Frank Cross goes on to be an ethical boss (before the 90s\00s happens and he's replaced by an even worse creep, somehow.) and appreciate the fact that he's VERY lucky to have a good brother and a good partner in his life. And, yanno, benefits for the employees so that his secretary can take her kid to therapy or whatever - is that Christmas enough?

Martha, your review is arguably more comprehensive and thoughtful than ours, which angers us considerably! As soon as our head writer gets out of rehab we're going to give him the ol' Eliot Loudermilk treatment. Anyway, a great many viewers and critics also find the dark humor of Scrooged to be a little TOO dark, and that's a valid criticism. We'd be curious to hear if you have a favorite Christmas movie!

Clicked your video to tell you it was a bad clickbaity title. Scrooged is not controversial, Your opening was too long and crass. If this was just a review of Scrooged I would have watched.
