My son was 10, after watching men in tights 1000 times, he saw Cary Elways at our yearly Comicon , innocently skipped the entire line and yelled out, "It's Robin Hood!!!" Cary gave him an autograph right there. When my son left the Comicon, he said, "I wanna go say bye to my friend" to which my wife instructed to him to say to Cary, "Back to you, Loly" (Cary's exaggerated line from from movie, The Chase) Cary really enjoyed that, "You've got a great kid "

One of my favorite childhood memories was being 9/10 sitting in the back seat of the car with my buddies singing "we're men...we're men in tights TIGHT tights" song. We thought it was the funniest thing ever, now almost 30 years on I can say, you were right kid, it is!

I grew up watching this movie and Prince of Thieves on a regular basis. Almost shaped my entire childhood, along with other VHS tapes my parents had, like Ladyhawke, Princess Bride, Hoosiers and others. All three of us still quote Men in Tights to each other to this day!

This was the first time I saw Dave Chappelle! I remember I loved Mel Brooks’ other films like “History of the World Pt. 1” and “Spaceballs”, so I begged my Mom to take me to see this in the theater. I think I was about 12-years-old. I was also a big fan at the time of the Kevin Costner “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” film so was extra excited to see Brooks spoof that. While not a bad film, definitely not up there with Brooks’ best work like the previous two films I mentioned and other classics of his like “Blazing Saddles” and “The Producers”. (The original film with Gene Wilder is waaaaayyyyy better than that trash we got with Matthew Broderick)

Highly recommend you check out his other works. Blazing Saddles especially. Always good to keep in mind the Era in which they were written and released though. Some (like Blazing Saddles, and the unrelated altogether TV show All in the Family) likely would have never seen the light of day in today's media environment. May the Schwartz be with you!

I agree, Carey Else's is an amazing actor with an awesome range as an actor from dramatic roles to slap stick comedies. Having been raised on Mel Brooks' films and TV shows I remember taking my younger sister Anna (may she rest in peace) to see Men in Tights when it first came out in the movies. It was us and approximately 20 other folks and I distinctly remember my sister, myself and this guy sitting a bit behind us seemed to be the only people of the approximately 19 others who consistently laughed out loud throughout the whole movie. My sister who was 13 years old at the time kept whispering "What the hell is wrong with these people in here?!? Don't they know a halarious movie when they see one?!" All I could do was shrug and say, "Hell if I know. Perhaps they're worried that if they started laughing and enjoy themselves it would cause the sticks up their butt's to vibrate. I can only imagine how that might be really uncomfortable in the end!"

Love this movie, but here’s something a lot of people miss is that it has two future Star Trek actors in it. 1 Obviously is the great Patrick Stewart. 2 Chase Masterson who played Leeta on Deep Space 9, she was one of Marion’s ladies in waiting that you see in the banquet fight scene.
