See i knew about that option BEFORE and yet when I got my new laptop the flickering on videos has been plaguing me for WEEKS, and I didn't think to check it. This fixed it up immediately. I had already tried everything else, disabling extensions etc. You're a godsend! I don't want to see anymore videos beyond my specific fix but I'm subscribing anyway because I'm so grateful tbh. I was pulling my hair out from frustration.

thanks for this video! i realized that this flickering/flash duplication of images when scrolling over vids on KZread was only happening when using Firefox browser. I turned off hardware acceleration and the issue is fixed. Hope firefox fixes this problem, because it just started happening yesterday for me. Thank you, I will sub your channel.

Thanks! My problem wasnt the same as yours but it fixed mine too!

Most likely it is something makers of Chrome based browsers did wrong in updating within the last few years that makes this option no longer play nice with our video cards or video cards have advanced further than their hardware exceleration feature. I use Both Opera and Avast browsers which are both Chrome based and have this problem on both. It never used to cause this problem. The issue with disabling it, is it now possibly puts the video processing compute cycle stress of playing videos on FB and YT directly on your CPU and RAM instead of the video card procesor and VRAM as now it goes through the software side of things instead. This is exactly what hardware exceleration is supposed to prevent. Hopefully, they figure it out or enough people say something. On that note, those with really good, fast CPUs and a good amount of good, fast RAM may not notice the performance hit as much as those with slower computers might. I am running an i5 4690K with 16GB DDR3 gaming RAM and noticed after I disabled the browser hardware exceleration, my RAM usage while in the browser spiked a tiny bit from 23-27% and CPU usage spiked a bit from 3-4% up to as much as 13%. When I press play, CPU usage spikes to 27% max and same for RAM. It doesn't hit me much but something to think about as it still bugs me that video stuff should be tasked to the video card which is what we buy them for right?

YES! from north Hollywood, CA. . that worked! I was rapidly going crazy over you tube flickering . Often rebooting computer will reset things. But it continued. THANKS! SUBSCRIBED!
