Whether you're terrified of negotiating a job offer or you think you're a smooth operator, you will learn something from my latest video.
After negotiating hundreds of times for almost 20 years in my HR career, I've observed that these 10 tips work like a charm. They have a catchy name too!
Plus, stick around till the end where we will practice how to handle a low ball offer. How to negotiate salary.
Everything is negotiatiable: that means everything is worth asking for. If the answer is a no, it’s a no. At least you made yourself hears. And that means something!
Do keep in mind though that the views expressed are from my own experiences and best practices and I hope this gives you a sense of exercising your self worth.
Apply it with your own judgment keeping in mind the culture and industry you have in mind.
I have an updated video for 2021 on Salary Negotiation, watch here:

If you're new to my channel, welcome, happy to have you here. Please read here before commenting! 1. If you're in the comments to complain about the audio quality, I apologise to your ears! (Volume cannot be changed once a video is uploaded). This video is from three years ago, and since then I've worked on my video editing skills. Hope you derive value and focus on what matters. 2. Yes, you can negotiate as a fresh graduate. Give reasons why you’re worth more. Tie up how your internship or skills learnt at university are relevant to the job. If I can do it, as a 21 year old in India, when the dot com bubble burst, with no internship, so can you! 3. Don’t bother telling me this isn’t possible in your country (including India!) or industry. I won’t reply or read. I have negotiated multiple times in India, South America and Europe. I have received literally thousands of messages and comments from folks around the world (including India) on how this video helped them negotiate anything from 10% up to 300% of their last earned salary. Don’t waste your energy on “why it won’t”, and focus on “how to.” 4. I share my best career tips on email! Sign up for all things job search and careers: www.superchargeyourself.com/newsletter 5. If you've read this far, I have a surprise for you! A 2021 video on salary negotiation, with a FREE PDF guide. Enjoy: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iG2ArZupYtC6Zrg.html

is it possible to lose job in negotiations. You have cleared all your rounds and have appeared for negotiation. Now it's a pressure on HR to close this negotiation as soon as possible. What is your thought on this.

Anything is possible, which is why I gave tips including non verbal communication and politeness. I personally, in all my years of recruiting haven’t seen an offer rescinded because the candidate tried to negotiate. Like I said: anything is possible and one needs to weigh the pros and cons.

I just want to say I took your advice and asked for a ridiculous amount in my salary negotiation and they increased my total comp by nearly 50K!!!! 10k increase in base, 10k sign on, and another 25k in equity! I just couldn’t believe it! Thank you so much!

Are you mad
I received a salary offer yesterday morning and the offer came as very matter of fact from a university, with the idea that was it: take it or leave it. I had watched your video and remember your acronym for fear. I have already retired once and was afraid that because of my age, I needed to accept the initial offer. However, I very politely thanked them for the offer and expressed my concern about the number and presented my case where the market average was higher. That same day they returned with an offer that was 10% more. You did that for me and I appreciate you so much.

Wow, I nearly fell off my chair... Your voice has such a low volume in this video that I turned up my headphone. Then your intro music came - BAM! Much too loud! Please consider adjusting the volume for upcoming videos.

Hi Sonal, thank you so much for your tips and examples. I went through 3 tough interviews and I was able to apply your tips during the salary negotiation. I basically mentioned my desired salary is $xx (5k higher than their range), they were pretty firm about their range, so I said "I understand this has to work for you as well, on that basis, the lowest I could accept is $xx (their highest point). I ended up getting the offer with the highest point of that range. I am very happy and grateful, originally I was desperate and willing to go for their lowest budget... !! THANK YOU !!

Hi, I just want to thank you for giving me the encouragement to negotiate for a higher salary. I was scared to ask, but I did it and it worked. Plus, my employer told me that my negotiation was good and appreciated because it showed my skills for the job!
Great video! It is so important to keep pushing for higher salaries, especially if financial independence is the goal.

you are awesome, these questions are difficult to manage and they are fantastic and so useful.
Thank you so much for your advice. I gained the confidence needed to negotiate my salary after a job offer, although I didn’t accept the job because they didn’t accept my offer. I do feel great because I ASKED. sometimes there will be losses and you have to be grateful. The job just wasn’t for you. The employer wanted to pay me below the average market salary it was very sad.
Thank you so much Sonal for the tips. I always had the fear factor in me and that's the reason I never negotiated even when I felt like doing so. But this video gave me the courage and sense of approval that I actually needed to start negotiating on things that really could not get along with me in my company. Thanks again , I just loved it !

This video is gem❤ In a recent negotiation, I faced a recruiter who seemed very determined on getting me onboarded for a package which was 5K Euros less than my MAN (Minimum Acceptance Number) in Germany. At first, she did not seem to be in the same team because I heard "Sorry, this is not possible" and other upfront decline to my polite attempt to negotiate at least 10 times, which was a little frustrating. But after the final negotiations, the Hiring Manager surprised me by adding a couple thousand euros to the annual compensation package that was agreed upon. It is tough to negotiate with some recruiters, but as you said, sticking to your ground makes every tough conversation worth it.
The opening line got me 100% - good work!!
Magnificent way to explain it. Never came up with this idea of negotiations. Thank you so much for giving us tips😁😁👍
