Rusty & Broken Old Pocket Knife Restoration. New Epoxy Handle
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Restoration of a rusty old Barlow pocket knife I had laying around in the garage. I hope you enjoy as I restore this rusty old knife.
ABOUT THE TOOL
The Barlow knife was invented in England, but became popular in the United States in the 18th and 19th century. A number of Americans have claimed to make the Barlow knife. This knife was created in the USA (as stamped in bade) Overall this turned out as an AWESOME RESTORATION!
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
I dismantled the knife, brushed it up a bit and then soaked it in Evaporust. (First time using Evaporust and it seemed to work great…very pleased with this rust remover). After rust was removed, I cleaned up the parts and began to sand them down to give them a fresh new mirror finish look. I made new hand grips but using a two part epoxy and some blue pigment to give it a nice color. I put the knife back together, put a sharp edge on the blade and the restoration came to life.
Please like and comment on the video and let me know what you think. That would be awesome and it would help me out!

My Dad gave me one of these Knives and told me it belonged to my Grandfather or Great-Grandfather (can't remember) but it has sat stashed away for who knows how long accumulating rust and grime and I wanted to restore it, I find this video quite helpful although I am hoping I can salvage the handle due to the unique engravings that it's original owner had carved into it.

Awesome I’m doing one on my time off as well… what gauge/size was the brass wire you used to pin the mechanism back together?
