Stanley Restoration | My Dads old Stanley T Bevel/Bevel Gauges Restore
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Welcome to the channel. We found this old stanley while going through some of my dad's tools. It made for a great restoration.
In this video I started by completely disassembling the tool. I sand most of the metal parts which gave them a nice finish. I used a stripping solution to remove most of the old finish and then sanded it down to bare wood. The next step was reassembling the tool and applying linseed oil to the wood handle.
Overall I was very pleased with the outcome of this hand tool restoration.

Hey guys! This is an old Angle finder/ T-bevel. I first thought it was a Stanley Ruler due to markings on the blade. I think I have it figured out now! 😆 This tool belongs to my dad and I think it made for a good restoration project. Have you seen a tool like this and if so what do you call it? It would be great to hear from you! Have a great day!
Nice job ! I agree with the comment about the king. My Old Hand is right up there too. We learn from the best.
I'm a carpenter and joiner In England and i always buy old tools as they're made better and it's like abit of history in your hand.We call that a sliding bevel here. Awesome video and a beautiful result, modern stuff is trash compared.

Thanks for the feed back!
Fine, but the blade should have been blued help stop it rusting again. I use one of these regularly.

Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching!
Adjustable Bevel Gauge. You ended up with the blade the wrong way around -- check the angle at the but end of the tool and the angle on the sharp end of the blade. It should always be stored in the toolbox with the rounded end outwards so the you don't stab your hand on the pointed end when rummaging in the box for it (or other tools).

Hello! I’m actually not sure the make of the gloves. You can find black rubber mechanics gloves online pretty easy. Best wishes!

Thanks for the incite. The markings that I could make out on the tool said "Stanley Rule". Would this be called a T-bevel?
I SPEAK FOR MYSELF WHEN SAYING I WOULD WATCH MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS IF YOU DIDNT HAVE THE END RESULT PICTURED IN YOUR THUMBNAIL. FOR ME, THERES NO LONGER A POINT OF WATCHING IF I ALREADY KNOW THE END RESULT LOL. IM SURE IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS WAY.
