Restoration Rusty Bayonet Knife - Is That Replica?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello folks! Today I will show you the restoration and modification of the bayonet knife. Presumably a replica of an English bayonet knife from the WW1. I bought it cheap, I wanted to know if I could make a reliable handle, where is the thread of the tang. Well, let's start restoring the knife.
The first duty was to clean the object with a rust remover, and by the way, to stop the acid process on the metal surface, you need to place the object in warm water with soda.
Next, I dried the bayonet and began cleaning its surface with sand.
The next step is processing the knife on a sanding machine. Redrawing the tip of the knife, false blade and bevels. Next, manual sanding of the blade and polishing.
The handle of the bayonet knife - here I had to come up with something of my own, I used a piece of mild steel for the base. With the help of welding welding, it was possible to welded reliably. After processing and cleaning the seam after welding, I began to form the shape of the handle. For this I used a gas burner, hammer and a sanding machine.
The material for the handle I used thick soft leather, beech wood and brass rivets. After gluing the handle, I processed it and started making a scabbard. It was funny and interesting - for the first time I used a deer horn for a scabbard. It turned out interesting. And of course at the end of the video I did a bayonet knife test. Thank you all for your attention
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

This is why I say your the best restoration yter. When you think or know something is a reproduction, you point that out to us instead of trying to pass it off as something super old. And honestly I like the fact you did something fun with the video. ❤❤❤

The moment that rusty metal box appeared, my first thought was: "I would like to see it being restored next!". And then it got killed.... Maybe it can be restored anyway - I hope, at least. Great to see Curtain Cat again, too bad that guard on the bayonet was fitted upside down. As for the looks of the restored knife - we love our children not because they are pretty, but because they are our children. What is important is the effort and work that you put into restoring that knife, with all the skill you have and heart-warming dedication. And that alone makes this knife beautifull beyound mere pleasant looks. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

You put the guard on upside down.

You have uniques skills, to restore, knives, swords, but you must learn that exist and must be proportion in size between the handle and knife blade, in this case the blade deserve a better handle. Nevertheless the job you did with it is nice.
