Ruger No. 1 ...in .45-120? (4K)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Check out this approach to a single-shot hunting rifle, especially if you want to hunt using cast bullets for your reloads. And reload you will, if you use this gun because it's chambered in .45-120; a cartridge no longer manufactured (although the brass still is).
We even managed to get Matthew Quigley to stop by and share a few pointers!
Cast bullets are great, but they do have their limitations compared to jacketed when it comes to maximum velocities (and even expansion). So what to do? Well, shoot a heavier bullet (535 grain in this case) and make a bigger hole to begin with! (.45 cal)
The rifle shown in this video is a Ruger No. 1, custom-chambered for a cartridge and in a manner not often seen. Highly effective and proven in the field on Canada's majestic moose, it's use of peep sights instead of open or scope makes this a fast-shooting and highly accurate firearm.
This video is recorded in 4K video with much-improved sound quality.

FELICITO COMO SIEMPRE A RUGER por sacar esos calibres de antaño que tanto hicieron por América. Ese es un Calibron y con ese cañón largo más todavía. BRAVOS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks Juan!
I love the No1. I own a few with my 45-70 being my favorite. That 45-120 does leave me a bit envious. It is absolutely beautiful

Thanks Peter. Yes, Ruger No. 1s are things of beauty, no matter what they're chambered for.
This video is a wonderful treat. Years ago I enjoyed cowboy action shooting and had the opportunity to shoot a few black powder rounds thru a Sharps .45-120. Thank you again!

Always love the 45-120 videos. There is just something special about that big old cartridge. I currently have 3 rifles chambered in it.

Cool. There's not much in the way of 45-120 content, so I'll try to redress that imbalance more in the future!

@@TheWaytoNativeChronicles great I look forward to that. I have always thought about starting a KZread channel to include a lot of the old style rifle and cartridges I shoot plus reloading videos. Maybe other topics like atv mechanic vids as that’s my profession. Just stuff I’m interested and how I do particular things. Might be able to add to the 45-120 videos.

@@bigboreleveraction933 yep, that's what I do; cover the subjects that interest me. It's best to share on topics you have something worthwhile to say something about.
so i built the same rifle on 45-120 about 20 years ago . i use 458 lott reloading into as a starting load . if you do this make sure you measure your 45-120 case volume to make sure it is the same or larger than the 458 lott case capacity . there is some reduced volume cases out there , which can cause issues with too much pressure . i really like imr 4831 ( basically a case full with a 400 grain bullet on top ) this is a more " mild load" .......... or for full power loads imr 4064 ( i won't give a measurement for this .... but it can be figured out with 458 lott info ) what i have found with a lot of use with full power loads , where the butt stock meats the receiver , it will pound out and eventually crack the stock . a couple of mercury filled recoil tubes in the but stock and a over sized recoil pad to spread the contact area out on your shoulder really helps .

Sir, that’s a beautiful rifle. I’m rather fond of Ruger No1’s currently owning three in 6mm REM, .45/70 and .416 REM Mag. All are accurate and fun to shoot at targets and game.

Una gran lastima que no entienda nada de lo que dice porque no se ingles. ME HUBIERA GUSTADO SABER LO QUE DIJO ya que ese rifle fue un intrumento unico en esa epoca.

Where did you get the No. 1 built? I have checked around and there seems to be some reluctance to work on No. 1s or 3s except some minor repairs.
