    In all fairness to Mr. Bergamasco, the brain fade was due to whoever decided it was a good idea to plonk him in at No:9. He did his best, but was hideously uncomfortable from the get-go.

    It might not seem like a big deal since they were 10 points ahead, but Dupont's mistake @3:47 allowed England to get a bonus point, they both finished the tournament on 18 points, and England were champions on greater points differential. So that mistake actually cost France the tournament.

    In fairness to Beauxis, I think it's a missed kick rather than a brain fade. Simmons and Haskell are closing in on him very fast and he kicks the ball under a lot of pressure, which explains probably why he did not find touch. I would bet that he had the intention to go for touch.

    To be fair on Dulin's play, France needed another try to maintain their hope of winning the tournament or something like that. I've never seen it as a brain fart, they were probably overconfident or overzealous about the extra point but they knew what they were doing. And the fact Scotland ended scoring and winning the game was just a good lesson taught.

  • @AndrewDavidForde

    @AndrewDavidForde

    Жыл бұрын

    No they didn’t, they had to beat Scotland by 21 points which wasn’t possible. Dulin afterwards himself said he intended to kick the ball out but thought they had an advantage so took the ball in to contact. They didn’t have any advantage, so it was in fact a brain fade.

  • @PaulHolder
    @PaulHolderАй бұрын

    Italy really missed a trick in the Bergamasco game. If they had gone with a 'dummy half' game plan like in Rugby League with short passes and runs from the ruck and the 10 at second receiver, they could have given England a hard time like in the 'Ruck-gate' game potentially changing the way the game was played...unlike the 'ruck-gate' game. Guess that is a lot to ask with a week or less to plan and practice though.

    7:38 I don’t think it is fair to include the Haouas punch without considering the circumstances… Yes, Haouas lost his nerves, but there are reasons to explain it. There was a lot of tension during that match, and several punches had been thrown at this moment. On top of that, Jamie Ritchie had put his fingers in the eyes of Haouas on purpose… There is some footage of that moment, but it (unsurprisingly) wasn’t broadcast, as they only looked at footage of the punch. Yes, Haouas made a mistake, but it is not comparable to the other clips of this video if you put it into perspective Plus if you look closely at Ritchie's arm, you'll notice that Ritchie was also ready to throw a punch at him…
