    Excellent job and Thank You! You do your oil changes the same way as me including pouring a little through with the drain plug off to flush a little more old oil out. There aren't many "how to" videos on these bikes. I don't have one yet (eyeing the Tuono 660.) I do all my own maintenance and one of the decisions on the bike is amount of info. on maintenance and how expensive and time consuming maintenance is. Would love to see a valve clearance video and wheel removal/install video. The music in the background was pleasant! Thank You for not having annoying, blaring, distracting music!

    Thank you I appreciate that! These were my thoughts when I first got my RS660, that there was not enough “how to” content so I decided to make some. I’m soon to be due for brake pads so I will do a video on that plus removing wheels. The valve clearance is something that I’m working on. Initially I’m planning to do a video on valve clearance inspection only. The adjustment will be tricky as I can’t find individual shim sizes readily available within a day. The RS660 uses unique shaped shims that are chamfered on the edges. Kind of like a round trapezius shape. And I don’t wan’t to but the whole shim kit as at $700+ it doesn’t make financial sense. We’ll see. I try to make the videos enjoyable and to the point without overwhelming music. But man video editing is more tiring than wrenching lol. The Tuono 660 is a great bike. I’d choose the factory.

    You should buy the Tuono heel guard for the right side. It's a nice plastic cover that protects the swingarm, and it fits/matches perfectly on the RS. After the 600 mile service, how many miles should the oil be changed? Do you recommend getting the upmap? I have a full SC Project

  • @ALFAVITAGA

    @ALFAVITAGA

    2 жыл бұрын

    Aprilia recommends an oil change every 10,000km or 6,200 miles. I don’t recommend that, as oil change is very cheap and worth doing often to protect your engine. It all depends on how you ride. A good medium is around 3000km or 1850 miles but never more than a year. If you track your bike I’d say 2-4 track days. This specific oil change was the third oil change overall at 2800 miles and the first oil change since the 600 mile service. So I went for about 2200 miles and the oil looked like it should have been changed sooner. I’d say 1800 miles is what I prefer. Now for your full SC Project, you need a tune, as the RS660 runs very lean due to Euro 5 compliance. What tune you choose doesn’t really matter, but I chose Upmap for ease of use.

    Thank you! The carbon piece I got from AF1 racing. I also ordered a 54 titles sticker from AF1 to give that OEM look. I removed the front red sticker, but I did not add a black one. So its just plain. But that is the goal. To add a black sticker with the Aprilia logo on it. I’m still working on how to do that. I don’t believe Aprilia makes one, therefore the only solution would be a custom sticker. Once the bike is complete I’m planning to do a full walk-around of all the mods.

    Aprilia released an update for oil capacity at 2300cc. I pinned a comment on this. 2500cc was acceptable, I had no issues. When I change oil I go by increments until I get a correct reading on the oil stick. Sometimes there is residual oil in the engine so you can’t always go by number alone. I don’t know how much an oil change costs at a dealer. That depends on where you live and what the labor hour costs. In LA labor hour is around $120 to $180. I would say on average an oil change would cost $250 at a dealer. The cost to change it yourself would be around $80. Regarding the service light on the dash, you can’t reset it on your own. You need to take it to the dealer and they would charge you a minimum 1 labor hour.

  • @ALFAVITAGA

    @ALFAVITAGA

    2 жыл бұрын

    Your engine oil should not smell like gas. If it does, it’s not the end of the world but if you don’t take it to the dealer, it can end up being catastrophic. There are multiple reasons why your oil might have a fuel odor. Non of the reasons should apply to a new bike. Internal engine wear on the piston rings, faulty fuel injectors, faulty spark plugs, and anything that can cause a very rich air/fuel ratio leading in unburned fuel. Unburned fuel washes past the piston rings, ending up in the oil pan. This will lead to oil/fuel mixture which will affect the viscosity of the oil, leading to poor lubrication. Poor lubrication will lead to engine failure. The ticking sound you hear could be the cam chain tensioner(cct) and not the valves. It might be loose or the rubber o-ring could be the issue. The Aprilia CCT o-rings are notorious for failing. The CCT is automatic and it might need to be reset. If its not the CCT it could be a valve clearance issue or the valve retainers might be failing. The retainers fail easy too. But I can’t diagnose your bike from here. Your bike is under warranty. Don’t be disappointed, just take it to your dealer and they will place a warranty claim. Chances are they will give you a new engine for free. It’s much easier for Aprilia to just swap the engine with a new one, instead of going through multiple variables to fix a problem that could return. Don’t stress. You are under warranty. Take your bike to your dealer my friend. ✌️

    Do you have a power commander

    I thought about going with a power commander. But I decided to go with an Upmap with Gabros map instead, for two reasons. More cost effective and ease of use. If this was a race bike though I would choose power commander.

    The one Im using in this video is 68x14 but this socket wrench will only fit the discontinued oil filter part number 857187. The new oil filter that Aprilia uses with part number 1A023538, uses a 65x14 socket wrench.

    That’s not how you check torque !! 🤦🏻‍♂️ if the nut is over torque and you set the torque wrench to 28.5, the wrench will click regardless. So you have to lose the nut with a regular wrench and them use the torque wrench to tight. Unless, you have a digital torque wrench that tells you the torque.

  • @ALFAVITAGA

    @ALFAVITAGA

    I’m assuming you are talking about the oil filter joint that I checked the torque at 28.5 Nm? The goal was not to torque it at 28.5Nm but to verify that its at least torqued at 28.5Nm. And it was. Now if it was 30Nm I could care less. All I wanted to know is that its tight enough.
