    I did it in this order: - removal of all necessary fairings - removal of exhaust - removal of headers - install of new headers - install of new exhaust - install all fairings - unscrew gas tank (I had a second person so I didn't need to remove the whole thing) - install stacks and air filter - ran and installed upmap (took about 30 minutes to run the process) Some pointers - installing the new headers would be much easier with a second set of hands. You also need a block or stand for when you remove the original exhaust. I spent more time installing the four header nuts than any other part since I was doing it solo. I ordered the new header nuts from A1 (as he suggested in the video) and I'm glad I did. Doing the install solo, and being that it was my first time working on a bike, took about 8 hours in total. Would have taken 5 with a second set of hands...those header bolts are hard to get to and hard to get on flush. Last pointer, don't over-twork the nuts, trust the tools to do their job.

    Great video Mike, much appreciated! Quick question: in the EU Version of the SC Project, you need to drill a hole through the carbon end of the exhaust to remove the screw that holds the baffle tight, did you have to do the same or how did you removed it? Greetings from Germany

  • @ALFAVITAGA

    @ALFAVITAGA

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Paul. Thats the first time I’m hearing this. I did not have to drill a hole to remove the screw that holds baffle. I don’t think there is an EU version of the SC Project. I think what you are referring to is the SC Project that retains the catalytic converter. If thats what you mean, thats not an EU version. Its just the non race SC Project exhaust. The one I’m installing on this video is a full system race exhaust with no catalytic converter.

    @@ALFAVITAGA Thanks for the quick answer bro. You are absolutely right. I meant the exhaust system with the catalytic converter so its matching the european emission standards. That's why I named it "the EU Version". Then I'd like to rephrase my question. How did you remove the baffle of the race exhaust system? Maybe with some luck I can ask our local dealer if he could sell me the full exhaust system with the catalytic converter but with the (race exhaust trim ?) So I can uninstall it, if hitting the race track and keep it in, when im on the streets ;)

  • @ALFAVITAGA

    @ALFAVITAGA

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@elgoblino4379 Thank you for mentioning this as now I know that the CAT version has a muffler that the baffle is “locked”. SC Project won’t sell the CAT exhaust with the muffler from the race version. For that reason I find it hard for your dealer to be able to supply you with that combo. But doesn’t hurt to ask. Worst case scenario you buy a second SC1-R muffler from the race version. But that will cost you more.

    Is it possible to remove the heat shields _without_ taking the whole exhaust out? Maybe just that center bolt and dropping the exhaust down a couple inches? I tried to just remove the heat shields but it seems the rear sets are in the way, and I'd rather not have to remove those just to get at the heat shields

  • @ALFAVITAGA

    @ALFAVITAGA

    2 ай бұрын

    I’m guessing you want to remove the heat shields to paint them? I can’t imagine another reason, unless it needs to be replaced. I don’t recommend removing the center bolt. The stock exhaust is very heavy and is only held by the center bolt. If you remove it all the weight will be transferred to the header studs and nuts. You don’t need to remove the exhaust to remove the heat shield. That would be a huge job for just a heat shield. All you need to do is wiggle the rear set a bit, to make space for the heat shield to be removed. To do that you will need to remove the swingarm axle nut on the left side of the bike and push the axle in, just enough before it passes through the swingarm. If it passes through the swingarm you are screwed. You will open a much bigger job. Once you push the axle in, you will need to remove the lower bolt of the right rearset. After that you just pull the right rearset out to give space for the heat shield. You can check out my rearset installation video for guidance. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJ-VksZmpbWqfrQ.htmlsi=oqCTKbzZ0dJDpn5H

    Did this void your warranty?

    Short answer yes and no. It technically voids warranty, but its more complicated. First of all in the USA we have the Magnuson-Moss Act. Which means Aprilia would have to prove that the problem on your bike was caused by the exhaust, in order for them to void your warranty. But the actual exhaust is not really the problem. Its the mapping that void the warranty. But if you have a warranty claim, the only way for Aprilia to know you have a map tune, is if they request a mapping history. But they almost never request that.

    It was 11:30pm in a 7 feet tall garage. No need to wake up the neighbors.

    This exhaust installation is fairly easy compared to other bikes. Its the multiple fairing bolts and the tight radiator space that makes it tedious.

    Great video but Jesus christ man I can't hear the full potential of either of the exhaust!? Your friend seams scared of it and you weren't much better yourself.. Get on the pipe boys and let's hear them properly 😂

    Thanks for watching! But we couldn’t go over 4k for multiple reasons. It was 11:30pm on a 7 feet tall garage. Neighbors were sleeping and chips of drywall were falling off the ceiling. These exhaust are LOUD and the video doesn’t really represent the loudness. Not to mention that the exhaust was just installed. You gotta test everything works properly and air/fuel ratio is correct with mapping before you rip it. I have other videos on my channel with flybys, on board and standstill revs.
