RR7027A JORDAN KING HUSSEIN v THE GUERRILLAS
(6 Jul 1970) RR7027A JORDAN KING HUSSEIN v THE GUERRILLAS
After a week of bitter fighting in Amman in July 1970,
King Hussein of Jordan is confronted with the
greatest challenge yet to his authority from the
Palestine guerrilla movement. On two occasions this
year, Jordanian Army troops and the guerrillas have
clashed in bloody skirmishes in Amman. Over 1,000
people have been killed or injured. To maintain the
peace, the King has been forced to grant an increasing
number of concessions to the guerrillas, some of
whom would like to see him deposed. Now, a four-
nation Arab committee has been set up to work out a
permanent relationship between the guerrillas and
the King. The growing power of the guerrillas, under
their leader Yasser Arafat, could be the spur that
prompts Iraq and Syria to set up a viable Eastern
Command which will pose a real threat to Israel. In
this report, we review this year's events in Jordan and
analyse King Hussein's position

Those Bedouins wouldnt stand for that crap. they chased them out of Jordan.
The dye was cast and the massacre visualized as King Hussein struggled through his speech.
The Jordanian Army fought for their King!!! I respect that very much.

@@taddersauce3672What are u talking about? One group just morphs into another! .. Do u think all of the FATAH or PLO just hang their gloves up& go into retirement! .They join whoever is active, which might be HAMAS,ISLAMI JIHAD OR HEZBOLLAH and they get paid ( not much, but something& encouraged to believe they are fighting the good fight! Meanwhile their leaders live well in Doha City,Qatar ( like Sheikh's),well away from all of the violence!

@@jerryoshea3116 Perhaps some do splinter, I mean that was happening in the PLO itself in terms of the Black September group. Arafat did not seek the methods and beliefs of what would become HAMAS. To say some joined HAMAS after the PLO became weak in Gaza is probably right, but it wasn’t a nuance this guy was going for I don’t think. Ideologically speaking Fatah and the rest of the PLO is different from religious terrorists that HAMAS is. Both groups are active still and therefore one didn’t just simply morph into another.

@@taddersauce3672 The reality is there's numerous groups looking to be Hero's or Martyrs..All they need is a weapon& they'll be employed straight away..
But eventually the 'Shit hit the fan' and a War took place& with help from the Pakistanis kicked them out!

They all feigned "support", it is always an act. An "Appearance" of Ummah is ultra important for those cultures, hence the whole thing of "honour killing" ?
The good king husein. RIP
