RR7038 GUERRILLA HIJACKINGS DEADLINE AT DAWSON'S FIELD

(23 Sep 1970) RR7038 GUERRILLA HIJACKINGS DEADLINE AT DAWSON'S FIELD
At 12.20 p.m. on Sunday 6th September 1970, a Boeing 707 of Trans World Airways, flying from Frankfurt to New York, was hijacked over Belgium and forced to fly to Jordan. Within the next four hours, three more attempts followed - two of them successful. Responsibility for them was claimed by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine which eventually assembled three airliners - together with passengers and crew - at a "Revolution Airstrip" in the desert north-east of Amman. A threat was issued that both planes and passengers would be blown up if the guerrillas' demands, which included the freeing of Palestinian prisoners, were not met. This report tells the story of the dramatic week which followed, culminating in the destruction of the three planes.

This is just extraordinary. On the one hand, the hijackers were friendly, hung out with the children, people weren't afraid, and yet one of the interviewees says she has no doubt that if the hijackers didn't get what they wanted, they knew they'd be blown up. Stockholm Syndrome? I'm currently reading (listening to) a book by someone who was 12 years old and on the TWA plane - it's called "My Hijacking." It's interesting on a number of levels. It's what brought me here to watch this video.

And now they have changed their tactics. From "kind and caring" to piggz that the whole world doesn't want.

3:00 its insane to me how this dude is straight up casually interviewing a terrorist who hijacked a commercial airliner its also funny to me how chill the terrorists were, and how the girl literally described them as pleasant

Unreal. So what happened to the hijackers after their interview? Why were the passengers allowed to talk to the media seemingly so quickly? No wonder the next hijackers escalated their game shortly afterwards to murdering crew and passengers - the media is laughing at them almost openly here, at least that's how it seemed at the beginning of the post.
