Rollerblade Twister 80 REVIEW!!! (VLOG)(NARRATED)

    I had RB80 Twister for 18 years. First and only pair I owned. I knew these were heavy and not as fast and not as comfortable after a 2 hour street skate. But after I broke my RB80 cuff I bought RB100 3WD soft boot. Man o man bad decision. I never appreciated my RB80s more. On RB100 had barely any support, I was wobbly all over, and worst of all i felt every single vibrations even after a gel insole. Hate it! Going a find a replacement cuff for RB80 even if it costs like £60 + P&P in the UK!!!

    Man, great review! Everything I wondered about, looking at these online, was answered here! I like the look (one draw back, explained...). Vents look good, skid plates, the boot, just a good look! But, 360 pics show that damn strap, turned me off instantly! I would, for sure, cut that off once I know what I should leave for extra if needed. After the look of that horrible ankle strap, I fell in love with the look of the Twister Edge X. But, every review, complaints of ankle pain. The ones who got past that, did it with a heat gun to mold the boot. But, I know will scratch my head over wondering if I should cut a strap, or possibly mangle an expensive set of blades with a heat gun... Thanks for the vid!

    Still love my Twister Pros! Never had a blister, I replace the stock footbeds though. The 80's frame's threads can easily be worn down, so be careful when rotating wheels - also try them out with Hydrogen wheels. Yes, trim the straps as required.

    @@jamesbond6687 I lied. They were actually Inline Warehouse Hockey socks I ended up ordering. They didn't help with the blisters. I ended up using a neoprene ankle sleeve, with a liner sock and the hockey socks to solve my problem. I guess I bought the skates too big.

    Excellent video! If you ever want to prevent blisters try moleskin. Cut it to size and place it right over the area of your foot that is getting hot (high friction area). A cotton sock over a wicking sock will reduce friction as well.

    Great review and great skating! I love the downtown footage. Houston right? About 3 years ago I got back into rollerblading due to an injury that put me out of my other sports. I didn't know what kind of skates to get. I didn't want fitness skates. I play ice hockey but I wasn't sure I wanted to get inline hockey skates (this was before I saw Bill and you ripping the city streets in hockey blades). So some research led me to the Rollerblade Twister. I thought I could play inline hockey in them if I wanted to or use them as fitness or urban skates. I was right. These were the perfect skate to get me back into blading. I had to get a bigger size than expected as they seem to fit quite narrow and my foot is wide. But then the bigger size was a bit too big so sizing was a problem for me but now I know how tight I like my skates so if I got another pair I'd try to tough it out in the smaller tighter ones. I'm glad you like them. They seem like the perfect skate for the way you skate and especially the way you are improving and evolving as a skater. I know the Bauers are lighter and more maneuverable in the ankles but I think you will like the more supportive boot of the Twister. Keep ripping, shredding and rolling!

Glad to see your videos as well as you rip the streets! Thanks for commenting!!! 😎 P.S. Yes! This is Houston, Texas U.S.A. 😉

    Hey James!!! Great video. I just got a new pair of 2014 twisters pretty cheap and I’ve been breaking them in. I initially ordered the new twister edge skates, but I tried them on and they MURDERED my ankles. So I sent them back and ordered the ones I have now. I’ve been practicing on a pair of fusion X3 skates, but the weather is still pretty bad here on the East Coast and it makes it hard to get outside. But I want to get better soon so I can start going to Wednesday night skate here in NYC. Anyways, thanks for the great videos. :)

    Awesome to hear about you experience with the Rollerblade twister edge!!! Sorry to hear that they did not work out for you... You said the older rollerblade twisters were a better match for you?

  • @TheRainbowRose90

    @TheRainbowRose90

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yeah the older twisters were better for me because the ankle area is a little wider and the cuff was better. The new rollerblade edge skates felt like pincers on my ankles and the cuff doesn’t really wrap around much. The top buckle is also kind of short so it’s hard to tighten it, at least it was for me. I’m not sure how well they’re selling or if other people have these same issues with them, but they were kind of a disappointment for me compared to the older twisters. The older twisters felt better and wider, but they still kinda hurt at first so I bought a heat gun for them and upgraded the liners and they fit much better now, but I’m still breaking them in. The weather is much nicer now here so I’m trying to practice more. I’ve kinda been looking into maybe starting the keto diet for the summer too. Anyways, thanks for the videos James. :)

    One last thing, the liners for the edge skates are entirely too thick imo, especially in the ankle area. It’s like a small pillow that pushes your foot forward, which makes the skates feel smaller and more uncomfortable than they actually are. :/

    Ciao, even here in Italy many people report big problems to the malleoli with the Twister, I also had them with RB80 Urban, I tried with the heat gun, but nothing, so I solved it by making a 30mm hole at the malleolus.

    Your best bet is online if you are good at guessing your size but... you can try Academy or Dick's Sporting Goods...Sometimes you can order a skate online in Dick's and if it is not your size or did not fit then you can bring it back to the actual store that way you do not have to worry about shipping.

    I skate Twisters and only Twisters but wonder how they compare to Maxxums with 90mm wheels or Triskates w/110s in terms of speed and momentum. I am thinking of a change, as would like to work in more distance but not sure what I will be giving up if I move on from the Twisters.

    James Mackey City Skater They're amazing. I'll never use another wheel in the 80mm range. I just find it extremely cheap that those skates cost that much and they can't put hydrogen wheels on them lol. You spend over 200 bucks you should get top of the line.

    Dave Wynn never tried 90mm setup. I did skate 110mm for almost an entire year. Loved it other than I could never find wheels that didn't core themselves after a few weeks of hitting gaps, which is my favorite thing to do. The speed is the same, you do hold speed longer on rough surfaces though it's harder to build the speed on the bigger wheels. Once I switched back to 80mm I never looked back. They just suit my skating style better. I'm more of a trick skater than a long distance cruiser.
