I know you must be "holistic" and polite with your approach but I think you've left out way too much out of this video: 1) Liner: Regular Twisters use rather thin liner made out of materials which degrade quickly. This was (much) improved in Twister X, but you have to pay extra for it. Imperial One on the other hand comes with heatmoldable liner made out of better materials (esp. foams!) without paying premium. 'Nuff said. 2) Shell. Twister doesn't have reinforced frame-boot connection, Imperial uses metal plates sunked in plastic. Over time, Twister plastic around the nut degrades, esp. under heel, causing the frame-boot connection to bend. Lean skate to the side under weigth and you can see that. This is widely reported problem. I actually have a short video of this sitting on my drive, from our mutual friend in Spain. It happens with 80mm frames and is even worse with 3x3 ones due to increased leverage. Rollerblade is aware of this, they do not even list/promote/offer Twister as 3WD compatible skate - even though lower end model, RB80, is advertised as such. But RB80 have sole made out of thicker plastic and is more flat on heel area. This problem does not happen in Imperials, as they use solid metal-on-metal connection. 3) Frame adjustment. Not only Twister have only two fixation point, their placement is rather off, even though they use 165mm spacing like other manufacturers. This causes other brands frames to be shifted too forward or backwards, without any possibility of longitudinal adjustment. So there'sno guarantee that, for example, Seba Deluxe rockered frame or Powerslide Pleasure Tool 3x110 would fit properly and in most cases, on most size - they don't. Again, no such issue in Imperials, which have X-slot and you are free to adjust frame position front to back as you wish! 4) Parts. Rollerblade uses sealed bearings that are not suited to be cleaned and re-lubricated. This can be done but you have to rip off shield on one side and leave it open afterwards, causing it to accumulate dirt faster, even when it is faced to inside of a wheel. Imperials come with rubber shiel bearings which can be easily cleaned and re-lubricated which means you'll get more life out of them. Another thing, 45 degree buckles. Imperials use pretty standard fixation of buckles on the boot - actually, Flying Eagle buckles are about the same - perfectly interchangeable. Powerslide is also more keen delivering the parts to shops than Rollerblade. On Twisters, lower buckle not only is using rather unusual fixation system, it is also harder to find in the shops. Meaning you might have to mod the skates as no other buckle would fit right out of the box. Wheels. While neither Spinner nor Supreme wheels ar top-tier offering, I have skated both and Spinners are leagues ahead in terms of longevity and even wear. I've skated (much) worse wheels than RB Supreme ones and I don't consider them bad, but Spinners are simply better bang or your bucks. Last but not least - customer support. Over here in Poland, Powerslide rocks. Any kind of a problem with skate, they are willing to help even if the shop is sending you away. If you are missing rare part, they'll bring it over for you from Germany. They even replaced second-hand bought PB frames for one of my colleagues, no questions asked, just because one of them broke because of molding defect. Meanwhile, with Rollerblade a warranty claim can take weeks. This of coure is more about local distributors and experience may vary from country to country. All thing considered, Twister is hard to recommend. Especially when you consider that at similar pricepoint as Twister 80 you can snatch not only Imperial One, but also Flying Eagle Falcon or Seba FR2, all of which are simply superior skates in design and quality.

What an amazing, in-depth comment this is, thank you so much for sharing! I'll be upgrading my current skates soon, and seems I can't really go wrong with Powerslide Imperial then. One beginner question though: so if I'd go for the Powerslide Imperials, I could get a SEBA triwheel frame and slap it under those Powerslide boots because both brands are compatible frame-wise? Thanks!

This is a really helpful video Lino. One of the things that stops many people from getting into anything is always that question of “which one is for me?” While I do not refute all the other vids which denote aggressive, slalom, frees,ate, etc. There are many choices even within those categories. Videos like this, which detail the differences between skates are the best kind. Keep up the good work Lino!

Cool. I got Imperials size 44 for my size 43,5 feet. I have wide feet, yet no problems with that. Have been skating these from june. So it depends from person to person. Best if you have a chance to try them on in a shop. Nice comparison, have fun in Brasil

What is the difference between the Rollerblade Twister X and the 80?

Great video Ricardo!! Just one comment: The Twister shell is not sized 40-41 but 26.0 - 26.5 which is the size in cm. It means that a size 41 shell is used for sizes 40.5 and 41.0 (that's the conversion in their sizing chart) so, in the Twister, even if there is a small gap between the liner and the shell, it is just 0.5 cm while in other hard shell boots it will be 1cm.

Hey Ricardo love you and your videos :) learned a lot from u! Maybe u can help , iam looking for a second boot , I got seba high with endless 90 , and I got the old frame and looking just for a boot , u think the imperial will mesh well with the Seba v2frame ?

I've found that the plastics Powerslide use are soft, while this makes them comfy, I've found they just don't stand up to abuse. I've seen a pair of Megacruisers where the shoe lace pulled straight through the plastic. The Twisters are nice and I find they provide great ventilation and are really hardy but in larger sizes they use a strange mounting position for the frame. I've now moved on to Seba's by far the best skates I've ever had on my feet, great plastic, comfy and supreme quality but heavier than other skates. It's just what you want from your skates really. My tip, don't pick your skates based on looks, go on fit. If you skates fit well you will skate better and that is what makes you look good, not the colour of your boots.

Imperials use plastic composite with mixed in fiberglass and are actually considered to be one of the stiffer skates on the market O_O There could be a defect in pair you've mentioned.

So are the imperial one 80s any good and would the be any good for inline hockey as well

The Torx key will work in the cuff bolt fine. I prefer using one because they don't round of like a regular Alan key. Also wicked do a really good tool that has both heads on one tool 😉😉

I bought the latest Powerslide urban Imperial Yellow in size 39-40, my toes touched the front of the neoprene and i did not like it at all. It gave me discomfort if i went over uneven roads, so i returned them..

Any chance of doing a comparison with the twister, one80, seba fr1 and the FE F7 optimum.

I love the Powerslide Imperia. Thel boot, the liner, for me, fit like a dream. I have the Supercrusier 110 Pro and I love the skates. The only complaint I have is I want the frame that comes on the Imperial 80s, just so I can switch if I don't want to skate on 110s, but nobody sells them. Can you help me with this?

Mr. Lino, Hans Kanns, I live in Pittsburgh, Pa and inline is not popular at all. Like I said before I love my 110s but sometimes I want to skate on 80s, 243 frame. The Imperials are not Trinity mount and all the Powerslide models are going to that. They really should sell the frame that comes on the One 80.

Eh it’s a paper spec comparison. I’m one of those that don’t consider spec review when it comes to inline skate. I think anyone can do that just by doing their homework/research. To me a good review or comparison is base on quality of performance not from reading specs, not from how they look. That’s just my opinion. I’d take this video as a grain of salt

I noticed that the new Twister edge forces anybody larger than size 11 us into a 255mm frame (243mm frame normally). For me, it completely defeats the purpose of the "Twister" brand. They should at least give us a choice.
