Rollerblade Twister 80 - My First Impression

Спорт

This is the first time I try on my new Rollerblade Twister 80s.
The boot fits really well. It has two straps. The lower strap locks the heel in place really well, which is nice. The upper strap is surprisingly long and extends on the outside, not on the inside which I'm used to from other skates. If this turns out to be a problem I guess I can just cut the straps short, so this is not really an issue.
The wheels have a flatter profile than I'm used to. I immediately felt the difference. It's like I need to lean a bit more before the skates start turning. I suppose this is good in terms of control but bad in terms of speed.
Jumping feels a lot more comfortable with these skates. In the heel there's a shock absorber and the wheels themselves are really thick. What I mean is that the wheels (Rollerblade Supreme 80mm 85A) have really small cores and therefore a lot of rubber/urethane to absorb shocks.
Powerstops are very easy, but today everything is frozen, so I guess I could do it with any skates. No problem.
As expected with a short frame, transitions are easy. Comparable to triskates.
Since I literally only had five meters of ice free road to skate on, I could not test speed. I know for sure that they are not as fast as my larger 100 mm wheel inline skates, that's obvious. I need to wait until the ice melts and the roads dry up to test HOW BIG the speed difference really is.
So far I can tell that these skates are really comfortable. They are suitable for technical skating, especially for jumping. For beginners they are a good choice because of the small wheels and short frame. For advanced skaters, who do tricks and urban skating, they are a also a good choice. In fact, Greg Mirzoyan, one of the best urban skaters in the world, wears the pro version of these skates. However, if you are more into speed and efficiency, I think you better go for larger wheels.

Hii, I'm the guy that asked about the differences btwn 2016 and 2017 versions :D (big surprise when I saw my question, haha). In Europe, you can save 30€ if you get the 16 instead of 17! Good video.

I think they expect you to trim the upper plastic ratchet! The laces can be pulled up to desired tightness before you tighten the arch strap (you can see the shell tighten as you pull the laces tighter). At that point the laces are cinched down by the arch strap and you just tie a simple running shoe bow to keep them out the way. I then tighten the top ratchet to the point where there is support at extreme wheel angles, a bit looser if just cruising around. I ride the Pro model which is a significant improvement over the 80, IMO.

Nice! Glad you like the Twisters. Twister 80s were my first pair of inline skates 2 years ago when I decided to get back into rollerblading. I wasn't sure what to get but I wanted something I might be able to play roller hockey in but I knew I did not want roller hockey skates for my full time skating. I didn't even know what Urban skating was. I'm so glad I got them. Mine are now pretty much dead. I have worn a hole in the plastic near the toe. I can still use them but they have served their purpose. I might try Twister Pro but am leaning towards the Metroblade GM. I found my Twister 80 fit really narrow. I have a wide foot and needed to return mine for a bigger size. Thanks to the good service at inlinewarehouse.com! Keep rollin!

I really like the waxed hockey laces. They are flat and you can tighten them more and less where you need it. They improved the fit of my inline skates a lot, I mean A LOT. Perhaps you can try them? They are not expensive at all.

Good idea. I use waxed laces for my ice hockey skates. Maybe they'll work on the Twisters too but not sure since the eyelets are different.

How To Inline Skate no problem with eyelets here, waxed laces are much better, the stock laces (round ones) are sh*t.

I'm looking to get back into I line skates (I'm not a pro, just thought I'd use this for exercise as well). And I'm looking to get this one, I think they have half size? I'm an 8 and I did a quick fit on a cheaper rb (the only one they have on my size) and it feels better than the k2, can I assume that I'm good with an 8 with the twister also? Thanks

I upgraded to these from a K2 as well and K2's fit true to size. Each brand has their own size structure. For Rollerblade get yourself a half size larger as recommended by a professional. I am a size 7 and I got the 7 1/2 and they fit perfect.

The first store told me to buy the exact length but my toes were curls and it hurt bad. The next store told me to go up in size, thankfully. I have bigger calves, and wide feet. I went up 1 shoe size. When I bought ice skates the first store sold me exact also. But after a year of pain, I realized she sold me the wrong size. I went to another store and they got me the size that fits. So the first store really ripped me off. Not all boots fit for wide volumn feet. A lot of asians like myself have flat wider feet. So best to try. I also rock climb so I know what shoes are meant to curl the toes and which ones shouldn't.

Try before buy. I tried 0.5 bigger than my length, didn't fit. I wear my shoe size 0.5cm bigger because of my wide feet. I finally went 1 full size bigger than my sneakers because I have really big calves. If you don't have flat feet, or wide feet, you can probably go 0.5 bigger than your shoe size. But best to try.
