Rolex Milsub versus Sundial! Man's Greatest Cover Story!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Your watch is not faithful to the natural rhythms of the heavens! The time on your watch (in this video a Rolex Milsub from the 1970s) is almost always different to the time on a sundial. In this video I explain the difference between a Solar Day and a Sidereal day and how they relate to the time shown on a clock or watch. I examine what is maybe mankind's cleverest cover story. I describe why and how your watch has been lying to you. Also featured in this video a 1970s Rolex Milsub.

It is not only fascinating that these watch repairs are superlative, and well explained, but also endearing that you put a lot of personality into it. I'm imagining there is a lot of science that compels this sort of perspective. Indeed, the earth goes around the sun in many dimensions, moving forward, spinning, and also tilting and wobbling, and speeds up and slows down. The face value of science likes to see it as a precise mechanical process like a car engine at a fixed ratio. That is a particularly startling sub too, visually. Todays subs have changed so little from it.

Great feedback Graham, I try to make videos on subjects that I am interested in myself and I think other folks will also find interesting and enjoy watching. Stay tuned for more on the Rolex Milsub. Richard
Ahhh! Sometimes silence is more accurate! A simple thanks Richard is more suited for this ocation.
I knew it. 24 hours. Too damn perfect and round a number to be true. The music you chose really makes me feel like I am being filled in on some ominous information from which the veil has been lifted, and soon after I am going to be tasked with bringing _them_ down--the ominous THEM--who sold us this lie of 24 hours, and will prove exceptionally challenging to take down since they are always four minutes ahead of us. What a video. Top quality.
I never thought about it in the past. Thanks for sharing this very interesting knowledge.
Really missed you Richard! Welcome back! 👍
I'm an engineer and I though this was very interesting. Might have heard about it before but I don't remember it. They must have thought for a while how to measure time with a watch, this mean value, very clever. Nicely done story, got stuck right away 😀
Well done! Thank you for that refreshing piece of knowledge!
Great video Richard. Well done.
First time in 32 years I've heard that anywhere since I learned it in college. Thank you. 🙂
Another great video, humorous ending ! One of the best KZread channels for horological enthusiasts without doubt, a real expert in the field.
Thanks Richard 👍.
Welcome back , new camera the quality is great, and the sola history is very enlightening and interesting. Thank you for the history of solar time well done sir 🤜🏽🤛🏽

Loved it, so interesting and i didn'tknew that. The title being so spot on. So Beautiful just like a mini documentary but can't wait for a part two of a mini series and more examples of this timely divorce from the stars! 🌟 Thanks again Richard and If I may say it this should be streaming on History Channel. Have a Nice day sir.

Hi Giovan ... Good to hear from you! Yes ... I couldn't resist that! Richard
What a great video Richard👍
Great video, thanks!
Well done! Thanks for posting. Your discussion brings me back to my scouting days when attempting to learn to use a compass I learned about magnetic north and the difference that we are taught in school.
Quality as always Richard! Cinematography stepped up another notch once again. I continue to be impressed by your work Sir... ONWARDS!!!
Elegantly explained! Thank you for reminding me.
Very interesting Richard, thank you.
Thanks for sending me down another rabbit hole! 😄 Now I’m off researching the science of time.
Risks…like that watch next to the water. Get it to safety….Please? Then pat yourself on the back for a truly great and well done video. Brilliant, and fascinating. Well done.
More interesting info that I didn't know, but now do thanks to you Richard. Excellent.
A beautiful little presentation on the science of time. The production was without pier.
I must have been not paying attention in school, all those years ago, when they explained this,,, 🤣,, or maybe, the teachers were part of the "cover story" and they didn't want us to know the truth,,, ha ha ha.. Superb video Richard,, thank you,,, 👍
Some very amazing info ! Great! and of course something nice!
Very interesting. Not something one thinks about every day.

Thanks Michael!
I love every single video you make, my friend! I hope you're doing well! So we will continue to accept to get the truth told by our little timekeeper friends only for 4 days in one year and continue to love them, nonetheless. It kind of reminds me about my marriage! ;-D Thank you for sharing Major! Cheers and best wishes from Italy.
This was really interesting Richard, i must read some horolgy books, still loving the work, cheers Richard.
That was great. Next, please explain magnetic north and true north.
Thank you!
Great video
I think I can win a beer form this one. Not sure I will be able to explain it after the second win though...
Every day is a school day, thanks for that Richard, great explanation👍👍👍👍🤓
Lol you corrected a Google search result & I'm seeing an anti misinformation link below the video title.
Mind bottling, if I could save time in a bottle. Best video I watched all day. And I watch a lot of Ewe2oobs.
Great stuff - I was an AQ, 23 years REME, which units did you serve with?
“Because it’s stopped” 😀now I understand.
Right up to the last sentence we believed you were being serious. 🧐
CQFD ! Ce Qu'il Fallait Démontrer ! Très important de faire ce rappel entre La Création et les accommodements de nos créations ! Nous oublions la réalité !
Looks like someone got some new graphics tech, very effective. The Norwegian sundial was fantastic, need one for the garden.

Hi Phil ...Haha! great minds think alike! My first thought was 'I want on of these for my garden'! Richard
That milsub is worth a pretty penny -
Interesting...
The Earth is also closer to the sun during part of its orbit. It is closest to the sun (and moving faster by 1km/sec) around the 3rd of January than it is on the 3rd of July. Therefore, a day is a different length of time relative to the sun on those dates.
Is this one of the reasons we have for"Leap" years ? .
Nothing is as it seems, it seems.
I watch (pun intended) and enjoy your videos. And there's a lot of interesting information in here, thanks. But aren't you a touch overboard? The watch doesn't lie. It simply does what it's designed to do, tell me what the time is during every day use. Most sundials, are not as sophisticated as your example and don't have seasonal adjustment. And many aren't even set up properly for latitude. What does amaze me is the precision which many ancient structures were created to allow the sun to shine on a precise spot on one or two days a year....

Hi kevgermany .... great observation! I confess that I am definitely and consciuosly 'a touch overboard'. My aim was to wrap some interesting and little known information in a 'sparkly wrapper' so folks might actually open it and get the benefit of it. Hope this modus operandi mitigates my actions here! Richard
Have to laugh at the "boobtuber" algo flagging you here for flat earth content... Thanks as always for some cool content!
Well, darn, ah, I want my money back!
And even then the story is not complete; the Earth speeds up and slows down owing to the effects of the tides, and shifting distribution of ice at the poles. So GMT is divorced now entirely from the motion of the stars.
It is the SUN that moves over the face of the earth.
Google incorrect big surprise there.
KZread is flagging you up for publishing Flat Earth misinformation, Richard 🤔🤣🤣
