This was the golden age of talent, and John was the best talk show host ever. He never cut a guest off while telling a story, never the fake Fallon laugh. I'm glad I'm old enough to have seen them when they did their original appearances on TV. Also I remember some of the Dean Martin roasts from the early 70,s, I was a kid but I remember my parents laughing there assess off, every now and then I go watch them on KZread and crack up, they destroyed each other without swearing and it's still funny as hell.

We didn't have political correctness BS and everyone got along with each other. Not to mention we good music, parties and girls so I can't complain, plus things were much simpler back then, just my opinion...

Dangerfield was one of the all-time greats... He could roll with any given scenario and had an anecdote for every occasion. Kudos also to Doris Day, for after all...Generally, when Carol Wayne was in a room she got all the men's attention, but Doris found the answer to that dilemma...She no doubt blind other drivers in traffic with those high beams on her way home (LOL) Carol Wayne ? The woman was so smoking hot that she could grill a cheese sandwich from across a room...Tragic how she passed so young.

Johnny Carson had his own Sport Coat line. He was wearing one of his coats tonight. He made millions of dollars from his sport coats every year. One day he canceled his line, the reason, he had to pose for pictures for two or three days for that years new sport coats. He hated that part, so he just canceled it.

There's a real art to stand-up comedy. It's not easy. But, Rodney was an artist and always delivered. Back in 1968 or 1969, I was in the Steel Pier theater in Atlantic City waiting for the main act, the Temptations to come on. The warm up act was a comedian. The guy came out and told some of the worst jokes ever. I felt sorry for him. The audience was silent. But, that was the set-up. After a few minutes he said, "this isn't working, I'll be right back." So, he came back on stage with a dummy and was a brilliant ventriloquist. I laughed until my stomach ached. Never forgot it. Great comedy brightens our day. Delivery is what it's all about. And, Rodney could deliver with the very best.
