Not a word of it scripted. These were the kind of witts we had back in the day. Gorge Goble kept up with the big boys and this might be the funniest he ever was scritped or not. Bob knew exactly when to pipe in and Dean lead the charge. Note how Johnny knew how to sit back and let it flow. He tried a joke or two but sensed his material and timing was outmatched by the panel and just enjoyed himself. Many (all) of the hosts today could take a lesson from this. Saddly, the true witt and humor is tainted by "politics" and "woke" restrictions so this kind of non-stop humor can never open up like this did.

Not only does Buddy have 15 doberman jokes, but now confirmed he worked in the motor pool vis a vis the Army. He was the basis for the character, "Doberman" ? on the Phil Silvers Show! I'm going to Google some research.

The monologue was awful but it sure picked up steam after that. The letter segment was awesome and Woody was his usual hilarious self with Cavett getting in a number of great jokes as well. On the pushups bit I was hoping one of em was going to say, “I’d win with negative six.” I seem to recall the Woody’s ex sued him over that final joke and lost.

I worked briefly for Schwab's Pharmacy in the summer of 1981 & Orson lived a few blocks away on the Northwest corner of Stanley & Hollywood Blvd., just a few blocks from Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Blvd, & I once delivered to his home. And he answered the door!
