Yankees fan and that's a fact!!!!!
The ironic part is the Astros hate playing with the roof open. When the MMP roof is open, the Astros are more likely to lose, in fact they're 1-5 in postseason games when the roof is open. The MLB demanded the Astros to keep the roof open for game 2 because they wanted to remove some of the advantages for the Astros and keep the Yankees in the series. And yet, the Yankees still lost. And now, they're blaming the roof being open, which the MLB forced open TO HELP THE YANKEES, for losing. LMAO

Nothing to do with MLB. To get the money to build a stadium with a retractable roof, the Astros had to bow and scrape to local politicians. There's actually a local law that if the weather meets certain standards (which it did for game 2) the roof MUST be open.

I'm sick of hearing Yankees players/fans excuses. Throughout the history of baseball, the Yankees have had a significant advantage over the rest of the league in payroll. Some of the tweaks have the last 20 years have blunted that somewhat, but it's still there. In this way, rooting for them is like rooting for the house in a casino. Just glad I lived long enough to see the team I've lived and died with for 40 years live rent free in their collective heads. It will be ironic if they lose the one generational talent they developed to free agency. Then the fan base can feel what folks in Oakland, Kansas City, Tampa, and a lot of others feel.

I am a Yankees fan. Astros have more quality players. They seem to have good players in every position. The worst thing that can happen to Yankees is signing Judge and not improving in other positions. Look at the Angels.
Sounds more like "Too high" from Major League.
The Bulls/ Knicks analogy is the best I’ve heard
At least this man knows what he is saying and does not give excuses.
A completely perfect and apt Bull Durham reference
Watch Rocky IV. Ivan Drago had all the analytics... Rocky had heart. Sometimes you just need to play the game to best of your ability and screw the numbers.
Nothing quite like a Bull Durham reference. "You throw the ball. You catch the ball. You hit the ball."
The problem with their theory? The Astros two best power hitters, Alvarez and Tucker are left handed and hit primarily to right field. What will the next excuse be Yankees?
Bottom line, they didn’t hit dee ball far enough. Ferget the velocity, get more hits.
That deep breath at the end, sounds like a lot of stress about his team.
that is a perfect analogy
As a Cubs fan I'm sure happy Astros moved to American League 9-10 years ago. There's likely a lot of other National League fans who think the same, especially NL Central fans(Cubs, Cardinals, Brewers, etc.). At time of move, though, Astros weren't very good. I found the wind excuse absurd. Conditions are same for both teams. I'm 72 and have unhappy memories of all those wind aided homers by road teams in Wrigley Field. Astros took advantage of short right field porch in game 3, while Yankees put up a big ZERO. Now Yankees are out of their misery. I liked the Bulls/Knicks analogy. Knicks got by Bulls once in the 90's when Jordan was temporarily retired, and it took 7 games to do it with home team winning all 7 games.

💘 the Bull Durham reference. Go Astros!!!!
Glad to see that there is an East coast sports journalist who has some honesty about other teams besides the Yankee's and Red Sox. Who's your Daddy??? Astros!!!!
MMP was built differently than open air parks, even with the roof open the only time wind would be a factor is in left field.
SABRmetrics explains a lot, but I think it misses a lot of factors as well, and instead of trying to adjust for those factors they just want to chalk it all up to luck. Bill James revolutionized baseball because he used math to see things that no one else saw and that no one else was willing to see. Now his disciples have become the hardliners unwilling to consider new approaches.
It must suck to be a Wolverines, Jets, Yankees fan. Constant sorrow.
I like how they looked at the exit velocity and not launch angle or what part of the ballpark the balls went.
Here are the most important analytics: number of hits (too low) and number of strikeouts (too high).
Imagine Yankees fans calling Astros fans annoying. Hilarious
