Restoring an Old Neglected Bald Cypress Bonsai - ASMR
( EDIT - The camera was accidently set to 720p to record :) , going old school here lol )
I dabble in a lot of things and in my first venture into Bonsai on KZread I restore my very neglected Bald Cypress named "Pharaoh" after my late great Dane.

I simply do Bonsai in parallel with my busy life as a way to relax and connect to nature. I approach bonsai with a very simple approach, simple tools, and just start working.

@@givetanks I've dabbled in Bonsai over the years but i move around too much to have one to really work on. But one day that is the dream! Looking forward to seeing more of this tree.

@@IndoorEcosystem I've done the same in the past and have been lucky to settle down and have a good bonsai garden - this tree is around 80 years old too

@@IndoorEcosystem Yeah I originally thought it was around 55 but someone said that it would be closer to hundred so I split the difference
Great nebari, great foliage. I´m not wild about the massive deadwood trunk. Grts Kennet

Deadwood is either a love or hate. I may carve it later down the road but for now I like it.

It’s beautiful. Too bad about the pot placement, but it gives you an opportunity to search for just the right pot. Great branch decisions. Did you collect this tree?

Looking great ! Is regular bonsai soil to dry for this species?

It all depends on your watering schedule - I use a heavy organic soil so it stays moist all day. Some people put them in a tub of water as they can grow in water in nature.
This is an amazing tree, you live in the southeast?

no - so I have to really protect this tree in the winter
