Unbelievable amount of vigour in this species. Such a fascinating composition with those flaring trunks and delicate foliage - starting to take on a beautiful haunting vibe. Best wishes to you and yours this Christmas!

@yacineaberkane1009 thank you so much! You get it. I appreciate that. I am glad my love for bonsai is projected through my videos and people like you feel that.
It's coming along great. Bald cypress are vigorous trees. You trimmed the roots hard and potted the forest about 4 months prior to this video (I'm assuming). Many other species would do better if you let them go a year before trimming them back hard. But this forest is likely to explode with new growth. Keep up the good work.

Thank you Bill. Yes you’re 100% correct. For all other species I can think of I would not have pruned it this hard again after doing the root work I did. However after doing the work I showed in the video I have actually had to prune it again as it was going crazy. I decided not to fertilise it till autumn, after the previous pruning.
Brilliant as always Terry, amazing growth in such a short space of time!

Thanks Wesley! Yes indeed. I was amazed at how much growth it’s put on in only months.
Give props to Naka and Goshin. Great forest. Thanks and cheers from Ojai California

Thank you @OjaiBonsai. Yes I spoke about the inspiration used and the commissioning by my client to create a forest like John Naka’s Goshin in the first video. I did not mention it in this video as it seems some did not like me even mentioning this creation despite it being “brand new” in the same sentence as John’s - they thought it was such a poor rendition. 🤷♂️
Thanks!

The moss mixture used here….does it grow in full sun? Ive seen moss on trees that require full sun and I’ve only seen moss grow in shade
@TerryErasmusbonsai

Good question Mark. There are many different mosses. Some can grow in sun and others shade. I like to use moss from my bonsai trees as I know it can grow in those conditions.
What is the plan for the tops where they come to a point at the tops of the trunks?

Hey Mark. Customer asked for a group planting inspired by John Naka’s Goshin. So that will give you an idea of what inspired the apex. However I will need to see how the trees develop over time.
Are this trees leyland cypress
@TerryErasmusbonsai

No. They are Taxodium distichum
Why Jin the top of every tree? Is this an abstract representation of cypress gone wrong?? It’s a nice grouping of trees looked great before any work was done.
