Restoration of 1951 Vincent Rapide - Part 48 - Mudguards

Temporarily transplanting the mudguards off the Comet onto the Rapide. It's a pretty simply job. Just a little tricky to fit the nuts underneath the mudguard while the wheels are still on.
The rear stay needs to be turned around so that the chain guard bracket is switched from the left-hand side to the right-hand side for the Rapide.
Also replaced the Norton mudguard and the matching stainless fenders look very nice on the Rapide after a little cleanup.

‘02BAV2’ well at least the Comets mudguards can be proud of the fact that they were briefly part of a v twin😁. Anyway looking and sounding good. You certainly have a fine stable of machinery. 👍👍

Just pop the Comet's plates onto the Rapide. Who's going to know the difference? Unless you're pulled over by a vintage British bike aficionado police officer. Great to see this coming together in the last few details .
mi ty, hope the tool's are snap on, being in the good old usa, not something from your vacation in to GB, ie, halford's.

Neale Bradford hehe. They are king dick! Many of them belonged to my father-in-law and I also ordered a lot of tools several years ago and had them shipped to my dads place in Scarborough picked them up during a trip back to the UK. Best wishes, Mike

That all went without a hitch, have you got a 19" front wheel on the Rapide ? I see you have Shadow brake drums, a very good addition, you need a set of Lightening brake plates now.
Seems to be a lot of balancing wire weights on one side of the front wheel?

Steve Chapman hehe. Yes, way too many Steve. The wheels have rim locks installed. I’m going to have everything removed and reset when I get new tires/tyres! Cheers. Mike
