Restoration of 1951 Vincent Rapide - Part 49 - Longer Ride

Here are a few clips of the first longer ride on the Rapide.
I have been riding around the neighborhood in "ever increasing circles" to build up confidence in the bike and fixed a few little items such as a few oil leaks.
My friend Geoff came over to be my 'wing man' as we rode back over to his place to do some electrical jobs on the bike.
As you will see, the bike performed really well with the exception of a few little teething problems that include:
* The clutch is slipping significantly. My biggest concern is that there is oil in the clutch housing. I will need to take a look at that.
* Very stiff throttle. Suspect Springs are too strong and cable routing needs some work.
* Tappets need to be adjusted
* Need to fit a rear-view mirror
Buy me a coffee? ☕ 😉

    Very nice first ride, Mike. Brave to take it on the highway. I’ve been debugging my TR6 nearly 2 years and still finding items to correct but having fun doing it. That’s what these old beauties are all about. Enjoy!

    Thank you Scott. Yes, I was a bit nervous getting on the I5 freeway, but needed to in order to get to Geoff's place. It was just for a few miles thankfully. Cheers, Mike

    A few teething problems - to be expected - but that must have been a wonderfully fulfilling moment for you to take it out onto the road.

    I noticed you never used the clutch. Please explain. Nice ride. I have one too, just installing a Pazon ignition and am quite excited to start riding again.

    Hi Jeffrey, I think it’s the angle of the camera. The lever that you see hanging down in the video is actually the decompression lever, not the clutch lever. Cheers, Mike

    First ride , it looks really nice, glad to see you still have the correct straight bars on it, so many over there fit the awful cow horns, what speedo will you be using ?
