Ride to Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum on 1951 Vincent Rapide
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I hope you will enjoy these few clips of about a 65 mile ride today over to the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.
I thought I would have a wuick ride along there and go grab a snack in the café. It's always nice to have a destination to ride to and then take a break and then head home.
Didn’t have a lot if time to spend at tge museum and it was closing in the next hour or so, otherwise I would have taken s walk around some of the amazing airplanes
I took the longer way around coming home as I noticed that the traffic was pretty heavy on the way there. Vincent did great, except for a silly mistake by myself and overfilling the oil tank. Anyway I managed to get rid of the excess oil and burnt the rest of during the ride

Thanks for taking us along for the ride Mike. The bike sounds fantastic and the museum looks incredible.
Love the Evergreen Museum. McMinnville is a beautiful spot.
Motorbikes and aeroplanes, what a combo! I'll definitely pay a visit to that museum when I find myself in that area one of these days. Today, I learned what a chronometric speedo is. Perhaps, I've been so mesmorized by the movement of the speedo as it moves with the girder fork, I never noticed the needle clicking up and down. After a few minutes of googling, I was led back to your channel and the Rapide speedo restoration videos. These videos are just tops! Thank you for sharing your passion!
The H-4 Hercules sure is a sight to see. Quite an engineering marvel for 1947.
Love old motorcycles and western Oregon countryside and roads! Thanks for the ride! My boy from Portland took me to that museum a few years ago while visiting - sure is impressive!
Saw The Goose a couple times when it was still in Long Beach. Howard was a mad man! 😆
For a moment there as you rode up to your garage door I didn’t think you were going to stop ! 🇬🇧
love the sound of the vincent especially when you opened it up
British bikes. Wow. Just in awe of them. And have to admit Guzzi's too. Church music. Achingly beautiful too. The Vincent is just a wall of sound. Incredible. And thank you Mike. :-)
Thank you for the wonderful ride Mike. Hopefully your work, and life in general are going well.
Ride vintage to vintage; delightful morning. Thanks.
Perfect! Wings and wheels on a Sunday after a morning ride on my Beemer. Thanks Mike! 😊
Thanks for this one.I really appreciated the pictures of the Spruce Goose, and how large it is.I remember going to an air museum, and seeing an Me109,for the first time. I never realized that it is maybe 3/4 the size of a P51.Thanks for the perspective. That's 448 spark plugs to change, just for starters. I've been fortunate to see the Race 57 Super Corsair twice, and hear that amazing engine. As you might imagine, it has a sound all it's own,in comparison to an P&W R2800,or a Wright R3350. I've fit a simple duckbill type valve (VW Bug)to the breather tube on my Royal Enfield Interceptor,S2,and that reduced oil loss by about 50%. Cheers!
Hi Mike, thanks for sharing this wonderful video, I am really impressed with this aviation museum. Greetings Erwin 😃👍
Loved the museum, loved the Rapide's symphony of sound and loved those beautiful twisty country side roads of yours. I'm sure you weren't able to get rid of the grin off your face even with the shower you had to take.😉😎🏍
Thanks for the ride Mike. Your bike sounds fantastic.
I've done the overfilling and messy punishment routine as well... after a hot run up to 95mph! Oil expands! Great run, so thanks for the ride-along. I experienced what you enjoyed doing. We have 40F with heavy rain today in northern Alberta... sigh.
You really have some wonderful roads out there in your part of Oregon!👍
Massive flywheel. Long stroke.
I rode up from Charleston on Coos Bay to Eugene on Saturday. Apparently there were a number of bike meets as the road was loaded with groups of bikes in both directions. There was at least one just North of Coos Bay visible at the roadside. Beautiful day for it.
Very handsome machine Mike, and it sounds great.
I love this place. I live relatively close. It is full of amazing aircraft, an accurate replica of the Spirit of St Louis. A Curtis "Jenny" with the fabric off.. I spent an hour staring at the workings of it. The roads in the area are great for cycling. I'm going to have to take my Janus for a ride there soon.
That long stroke low compression motor sure sounds nice. Ronn
Between the UFO sighting and that road kill squirrel eating chicken experience… you never know what you might see on those Oregon back roads. The Vincent really shines in the twisties. Thanks for sharing
Gotta love the soft way the Vinnie makes power !
Good to hear from you Mike. I hope you have great success at the swap meet ...cheers🍻
Lovely old bike you’re on.
Today's 'ride out' bought back happy memories from quite a few years back on a family holiday to the west coast visiting Long Beach California including The Queen Mary & The Spruce Goose when it was on display at the time .. 👍 Thanks as always for sharing Mike. atvb t .. 🏍
An over filled Vincent, so easily done, speaking from experience. Glad to see you out on the Rapide and what a great museum, you know you should have passed on the free hot dog though.

A few moments of sanity, in an insane world...
Is that Mcminville? We will be coming down on our bikes mid June through there on our way to the big bmw rally. Looking forward to checking out the museum.

Great trip mate, if a little oily, hey!!! Was it a Tesla truck or a Stealth bomber without wings???
👍
Depending on how long since you last rode the bike, maybe it's wet-sumping a bit ? I always run a bike for ten minutes after storing for a month or so before checking the level and even then I wait until it's hot before topping up.
They were setting up the autocross in the Evergreen parking lot for Sunday. I had thought about going but the OVM show is the same day. Here’s the last time I went. kzread.info/dash/bejne/npeCxsx-qMLWoM4.htmlsi=GaSr5ez2DqhyZKhr
So tell me...riding that Vincent..is that about the same as riding a newish Royal Enfield 500 or their new 650? I mean ride wise...not glamour wise.
