Luis, I want to thank you for these sets of videos. I’ve watched all of them and because of your unselfishness by giving to us your most precious asset - time - sharing your knowledge; has saved me thousands of dollars. Today I replaced one set of rollers and the sliding door that was installed in the 1960’s and now works like new for only 20$. I have three more doors to do now. Thanks again!!!

I know this video was posted a few years ago but I need your help and I figured I would reach out. I appreciate all you videos. As a single mom I do all my own repairs and you have helped extremely. I believe we have super similar sliding doors. I am struggling to get the screws out to move the frame up to remove my broken rollers. It is extremely rusty and partially stripped. I have used my impact gun and a hand screw driver but nothing. Any suggestions? I was thinking to just break the head off with something sharp and a hammer but I don’t want to break anything and I still wouldn’t know how to remove the other half stuck in the door. Can you help?

My patio door had a different design, the side bolt was also for adjusting the roller (and door) height, and should actually not be removed. Instead I had to split open the frame around the glass, which exposed a screw above the roller mechanism, to release it

You are so correct. I just removed the screws that hold the rollers in place, tapped them toward the center with my long skinny screwdriver and pried them out. Home Depot had the same size wheel, so I did the swap and slid them back back in. Took 5 or six minutes, much easier!

Marcelo Smith Hmmm that's a bummer. You probably need 3 people. One on each side of door lifting the door up and another person on the bottom with a flat head screwdriver trying to pry the door away from the tracks with out damaging the tracks. Hope this helps.

Louis, great videos.I especially liked the idea of 3 videos that automatically jumped to the next video. After completing the project, do you think it is possible to remove and replace the bracket hardware and wheel without repositioning the side rail? Just curious. Also the replacement rail is great touch!. Before I order the track cover, has the door continued to work as well as if did when the track cover was initially installed ? Curious how the cover has held up with use. Thank you FYI, I am a Coral Springs neighbor.

Tom Ferguson Thanks for the positive comments! As far as the track cover it has held up great! Definitely recommend it if your track is looking shady. The door is still smooth as silk. 👌🏽 Now replacing hardware and wheel assembly with out repositioning the side rails not sure. I will be doing my other set of doors soon and I will sure try. Sounds like it's worth a shot! Let me know how it turns out for you. Thanks

There is usually a screw on the bottom. Stick a phillips head screw driver in there and rotate until the wheels go up into the door. That should give you the clearance to lift the door up and out. Thanks

Are the doors backwards? I have similar doors and bought a screen door for it but I have to place the screen door on the inside of the house because of how the doors are placed. It's very awkward and doesn't work. I've rented places where the doors are opposite of yours (the sliding one is on the inside of the house and the other one is on the outer side. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say😁) please tell me that this isn't the correct placement that the doors belong. Can the track be switched around to fit the placement that I desire so that I may utilize the screen door?

So mine was not hard to take out at all. You should be able to grab it by the sides, push up and then tilt the bottom down. That is how I did mine. If that doesn't work, on the bottom of the door there should be a place to put in a screw driver. That is where you should be able to adjust the height of rollers, I would adjust the rollers so it would give you more room to lift and tilt the bottom out. Hope that makes sense. ALSO you might have to have another person to help with the door, depending on the weight of the door!

You didn't have to order anything. Just buy a pair of 1' & a quarter loose rollers and replace rollers in existing roller housing. And , never use track caps. Always replace entire bottom track......you can order from a sliding door wholesale joint like I do almost every week for work. You will have to order a new track, or a bead cap...
