Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is my trail guide on Slaughterhouse Gulch labeled as a moderate to difficult trail. Close to Denver, its a great trail for testing out your vehicle. We film this one with Jeep Cherokee KLs, Renegade BUs, and Wranglers JK & JKU. This one is jam packed with a lot of unique off-road action so here’s the video’s breakdown...

I use my stock Jeep Rubicon for rating difficulty running it like it’s an open Jeep. Lockers are reserved for I need them moments or to not wreck the trail. Still working on my video making skills but I hope this is helpful! The trail is covered from beginning till the end in order.
For trail planning, I use the Funtreks Books (amazon search: Funtreks books). I have the current editions of the Colorado books and Moab. I finish up my trail planning with trails offroad as they can sometimes have more detail as well as user submitted current conditions feedback. I’m testing GPS apps and currently don’t use one. Here’s my video that tells you how I do it. • Find off-road trails t...
As always, thanks for watching!! Your feedback helps me, so let me know if you can help me improve these. Share them with your nervous wheeling buddies so they can know that they can do the trail. Subscribe for more trails and off-road Colorado content.

We have 2. A 16 dawn of justice and a 21 limited. Love the limited with the 1.3 turbo, the DOJ has the 2.4 tiger shark and is greatly underpowered, but I went from. Modded roush to that so I’m biased...lol. Both good vehicles. I want to put a lift and some off-road gear on the 16, it’s getting scuffed up from daily driving som I’m thinking about coating it in bed liner with at least a 2inch lift

I actually found your channel because I was searching for Cherokee videos since I feel those are a level or 2 above the renegade in capability due mostly because of hp and that rear locker (imo). Toycoma I’m a huge fan of the renegade because of its size! We keep making trail rigs bigger and bigger and I feel like the engineers don’t realize we need to fit on the trails too. Honestly, I was thinking about adding a Bronco yet I’m not so sure now due to it’s wider than a JL width (if that’s correct). But back to the renegade, hoping Jeep gives it a proper transfer case and maybe a locker in the future 😈

One thing that you'll probably see in these videos is that independent suspension provides great traction because slips and bumps on one side don't affect the other side (near as much). That's one reason I think the Cherokee and renegades did better on the tree.

Let me start off by saying *old guy here**who had a CJ-7 kidney rattler back in the day. Second year production 1977 The original *Renegade* and later the 2nd year 1988 YJ *Original* Wrangler. Go modern design Jeeps! The rolling brick snobs hate them but I love my 2015 Jeep *second year* reinvented Cherokee Trailhawks shark nose! It's the reason why I bought it brand spankin new. It looks like a Jeep that was designed in the 21st century!Yeah it's not solid axel but it is unibody like the original. Has a much tamer ride with it's independent suspension. It looks exactly like something Willy's Motors would have had on display at the 1964 Worlds Fair! "The Jeep of the Future! 😏 Sleek, luxurious, and capable" It is like a childhood dream to own this vehicle. I wouldn't expect you youngsters to understand the significance of that😒 But it's just what an old fart who likes the woods needs😏 Not a rehash of the 1940 flat fender. I wouldn't have a problem with the reinvented Renegade if it was available with the 3.2 liter that's in the Cherokee. Its compact kinda like the Willy's or CJ5 and acts totally capable *when modded* but just a bit underpowered. **Then again wasn't the original Willy's 50-60 horses?** Anyway, 2015 Cherokee T H 3.2 V-6 with 2" lift on 245/ 70/17 Cooper discoverer AT4S gives me a respectable 11.7" of ground clearance. 2" is max safe height to avoid drive axel strain. And sticking with the 245 width in a 70 series, the 1" taller tire makes no need for pinch weld mod, plus the spare fits in the original spare tire well!👍 Currently sitting on stock shocks and springs. Next upgrade Dobson or Fox 👍You'll all be old and grey one day...(if you aren't already 🙄) Wisdom kids....Wisdom. I didn't grow up until I was 60.. Actually.. I never grew up!🤣 Follow my lead👍

I'm 50 and hair falling out and love heated seats , ac , don't have to get out and lock the hubs. It's incredible what big J has done. I currently have a17 JKU , 17 MK and a 15 WK2 . I love each one for different reasons but they are all solid Jeeps no matter what model , Big J wrote the book on 4 wheel drive , and your generation 2nd and 1st taught the 3rd mine , now my kids are 4th and 5th and Jeep Cult life continues. My wife has a Renegade. We ran it through some deep water recently running with the lifted wranglers. It lost a fuse from sitting with the fan under water too long, but held it's own. The guide for the day kept stopping and telling us he couldn't believe the Rene was keeping up. They could really use locking diffs, but the engineers claim the diffs aren't strong enough. The Cherokee can be had with a rear locker, but the available gear ratios are different. No swap option. Sucks. Great video! You have a new subscriber.

While editing these videos I watch closely how the tires interplay with the terrain. I notice very little difference in my videos between my aired up tires and the others who are aired down. It really just comes down to how much throttle is applied. I follow Jim Allen’s philosophy on airing down and it works well. It’s an additional traction aid. Also, as a manual driver, I feel I have a better feel for the terrain when aired up which allows me to work the clutch more efficiently. Thanks for watching!

The 2.4 engine is certainly too weak for Jeepin’ when combined with street gearing and a low-stall torque converter. The 2.4 engined Jeeps without low-range get into ruts where all four wheels have traction, the throttle is floored, and no wheels will spin - it can’t deliver enough torque to the wheels to go. Very un-Jeeplike. It is, on the other hand, very Subaru-like. The 2.5 CVT-equipped Subaru’s have the same problem, for which Subiphobes offer every excuse in the book, and are often seen in a rut while trailing, with the gas pedal floored and nary a wheel turning. It even shames me to have to compare the off-road performance of a Jeep with that of a Subaru ...

  • @coloradomallcrawlers

I wheeled an open diff wrangler for 10 years, it’s way more capable than many will give it credit for. Additionally, your traction control system can mimic a locker somewhat (it requires careful manipulation of the throttle to get it engaged). So to answer your question, I did use lockers in these videos unless I note that I did... I think I used them on Hackett Gulch (to avoid wrecking the terrain), Cliffhanger 2.0, and Kelly Flats (due to bad driving). In the future, I’ll do a better job of documenting what I’m using on the guides, but I rarely use lockers. With all this said, don’t wheel alone. I will and it’s hypocritical for me to say that, but I can usually figure a way to get my Jeep unstuck if it happens (airing down, lockers, stacking, traction boards). Anyway, thanks for watching!

That was fun to watch! I thought about getting a Renegade, but bought a KL/TH, as I wanted the true low range. The capability of the Renegades in the video were impressive, but it sounds like the engines were working very hard. The KL's transmission temp goes way up when using 4wdHi on the trail. Were they looking at the Renegade's transmission temp on those tough sections? The Renegade Zf9/PTU will probably blow up even faster than the KL's/TH do, working them that hard with no true 4wdLo. That dark cherokee had real low tire pressure you can see the grip. But holy cow I didn't know the renegades so good off-road. Its shape is perfect it's just needs more torque and better locker or awd system. I might go with a bronco sport but kinda wanna testdrive a renegade 😂 its like a better looking Fj

Solo Assassin I like it too! But I like scenic trails also... the next one is a scenic trail that Funtreks and TrailsOffRoad rates as difficult, but it didn’t have any real obstacles besides water crossings.

Loved you video! I have a 2018 Jeep Renegade Turbo. I lifted it 4 inches and put bigger K02 tires. Got a winch in the front with recovery points and tow hitch recovery. Seeing all your mods is making me want to do more to my little rig! I have yet to find a Renegade Club in the Bay Area or a Renegade with mods besides mine (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Well, I’m not the renegade owner so I’m not sure what the appropriate amount of mods are. Just be careful, mods can affect your reliability. If I get a renegade, I’ll likely keep it stock to see how far I can get a stock one. Thanks for watching and good luck finding some fellow Renegade owners!

Well, I don’t own one, but Davon has taken that renegade everywhere and I don’t think he’s had issues. I’m partial to the renegade even tho I wish it had more off-road goodies. The bronco sport might be good too tho. I’m in the market for a second vehicle so I’ve even tossed around an idea of a bronco. Thanks for watching!

Is it easy to accidentally torque the unibody on that renegade? I did some very light offroading slowly and i noticed my hatch closure lines no longer match up on the 22 latitude 4x4

I have a question for the guy in the blue renegade. Is it a 2" lift with 2" spacers and 31" tires? I just did the 2" lift with eibach springs. I have 1" spacers. It looks like if I go larger tires I will run on the springs.

those renegades have an unusual sound to them. almost like the engine isnt directly connect to the trans, maybe a CVT or something, but like the way the engine pegs out at a steady rpm, and the trans is taking that power and moving it around to the different wheels. but.. seems like thats going to be tough on clutches inside the trans. honestly it looks like they could use more power. you can tell the compass has more power and the vehicle actually lets itself use it.

It's the torque system, it's not a true 4x4 but it's an awd that will slip power to each wheel in order to gain traction, the low mod locks it into the first gear that isn't used for normal driving.

Colorado OHV permits are only required on a few trails for full size licensed highway vehicles. Slaughterhouse Gulch isn’t usually on the list though. I usually get a permit anyway as the money goes towards trail projects tho.

Fun looking trail! Keep up the good work! Don't get me wrong, the BU's are okay at basic stuff, but their lack of low range really hinders their ability to do the more moderate obstacles without lots of rock stacking. And using high-range 1st gear for that long and hard isn't gentle on components either, but since they lack the low range, they have to use more speed, which is also a great way to bust steering components.

@@coloradomallcrawlers Good driver still can't beat physics, and physics says those flop very easily compared to every other 'offroader', even worse than FJ cruisers. Yes he's taken it through some trails, but that doesnt change the physics. Hells Gate looks a lot scarier than it is, seen lots of vids of rigs looking like they would flop but not.
