Stock Renegade Climbs a Sketchy Mountain | Santa Fe Peak Trail Guide

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A stock renegade on street tires, a stock Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon, and a built 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner (Jason from the Oxfoot KZread) climb a Colorado Mountain with sketchy shelf roads and a majority of the trail above 12,000 feet. We will reach an altitude over 13000 feet. Will the little Jeep renegade's motor be able to take it up the steep inclines? Will the Street tires hold up to Colorado's Rocky Trails?
Colorado Mallcrawlers is an off-road/overland channel featuring a railroader and his friends. We love wheeling and making videos! Unfortunately, we are limited on video production due to the insane schedule of the railroader, but our goal is to always publish the best we can. I hear people when they ask us to publish more so I'm definitely trying. Anyway, we'd love to have you as a subscriber as I want to show off all these beautiful trails to more people.

Not trying to sound mean, but I'm really surprised your transmission wasn't overheating, especially with the altitude, there were a couple times that motor/tranny did not sound happy (and thats just the bits that were caught in the video). I'd advise adding some tow points, i'd be hard pressed to be convinced to let any vehicle without legit recovery points front and rear on any of my rides...thats just asking for trouble if something does turn south.

@@FearlessTrailhawk I hear you on that. These things are pretty resilient surprisingly and through that whole trip my trans didn't overheat or get really hot at all. As for the noise, I believe these Jeeps spring manifold leaks which makes the puttering as heard though I have yet to get it inspected to see if it's really that. Big thing is gearing. This is not a trailhawk so it doesn't have the extra low gear it should so it struggles more. I am browsing sites for extra tow points and since the Sport is just a less modified Trailhawk I am researching swap-able parts between models.

Hi, I’m sorry, I get so many emails that I get overwhelmed. I’ve heard good things about your lights, but I do not do gear reviews tho… I’m thinking about it, but it’d have to be on my terms (proper long test, no guarantee of a video, no video approval by the company). I understand that’s not favorable to many companies so I’ll likely just buy products and test them. Thank you for reaching out!

@@coloradomallcrawlers I've not done much research on those renegades. With a lift, what size tires can they take? I wonder how much a good set of ATs would help it.

@@backwoodstherapy I've got a few Trailhawks in my neighborhood all with lifts, bumpers and the works. It is usually wise to stay 3.5 inches or less on the lifts, including tire size, due to the CV angle. With a lift and some inner wheel well trimming you can fit 30 inch tires though a different offset tire is recommended. I have a good set of A/T on it now and snow performance has gone up significantly. The traction control system is phenomenal for what it is.

@@anatolearnold1633 yeah that sounds reasonable. You could, in theory, redo the suspension and adjust the cv axles to support more lift but in a car like the Renegade it seems like it would be more money than it's worth, unless you're just a rich guy doing it for the hell of it.

@@backwoodstherapy True, and I would not install a tall lift on this model of Renegade anyway. I'm looking at a 1-1.5 inch Eibach lift spring and some Bilstein shocks which will about round out what I want. I may go a slight size up on tires and of course get the skids and the works on protection because it's my daily.

When flying private aircraft we are required to have an onboard oxygen supply above 10,000 ft. Also not sure why you would let someone with no low range AND a CVT transmission come along on this trip. I'm sure he fried his transmission on this trip.

@@coloradomallcrawlers I put my foot in my mouth so to speak. I did look up the Renegade specs and found that they do have a low range button ( although it's only 20:1 ). I do have to agree that the size is appealing. Although I wish I had a Liberty. Looking forward to more renegade off road videos !! A little lift and a set of all terrains and he should be able to scoot right along.
