Recovering From Meth Addiction - The Difficult Truth | Ice Wars (EP 3/4)

Ойын-сауық

In Blacktown, Police and Emergency Health Services work diligently to manage the local ice problem. We learn that methamphetamine's hold does not discriminate as a world sports champion opens up about his struggles with addiction. An ex-user tells of redemption through rehabilitation, but found hope after hitting rock bottom.
This provocative series takes us to the frontline of Australia’s drug war on the drug known as Ice. Through unprecedented access, we follow the stories of Meth lab busts, front line importation arrests at the docks with Task Force Polaris, decontamination of suburbs by the cleanup crews, forensic teams tracing precursors and toxicologists investigating human impact from passive Meth cooking.

This was terribly sad but I must say the ending made me smile. I hope that young man is okay.

What a rollercoaster this was to watch. I'm so thrilled to see Anthony hit the skies - what a wonderful transition he has had. I hope Mike is doing well wherever he is... And I hope Cleo is resting peacefully. That shocked me.

I'm really impressed by the police. They have so many resources for mental health. The US could learn a lot from this approach.

🇨🇦👋 Truly appreciate this series. Although different country, the facts/results are the same anywhere. Bless the workers in their non-judgemental approach to the care of those caught in the addiction of these nasty drugs.

They can search you with no warrant or even suspicion of a crime? No wonder they hate the cops there man that's crazy.

From NZ. I was on it too when I was 18/19-20 peer pressured by my ex who I was only with for a year, I'm 26 now. I was using it for work nightshift 5 days out of the week. I got sick of the repetitive cycle so I left her and got myself clean and didn't look back. I had one good thing in that relationship and that was having a daughter. She's now 6 and I couldn't be any happier having her full time while the mother is still stuck in that cycle popping out kids left right and centre. I wish everyone who is going through it to not give in. Keep on going, All gas no brakes💯

I think it is TOALLY ignorant of the police to blame the users..every one of them has a story and addiction can happen to anyone..yes it was that persons choice, but there had to be a reason..it is a terrible illness.

You see for someone who been smoking for a damn long time and wants to try and quit it for good not that they want to smoke it, it’s more of their body needs it.

That airplane kid only 20 and he addicted. I think rehab should have chose someone who’s been in the game for 10+ years. He hasn’t got the real feeling what’s it’s like to go down to that road. Rehab works only for some people and others get out and once they head back home and start hanging out with the same crowd of people it’s all gonna be smoking that shit again.
