I've had mine for almost 4 yrs and it was the first power tool I purchased aside from a drill or sander. I've built a lot of stuff with it over the years. Good power, reasonably accurate, and cheap construction (e.g. there's only a bearing on one of the rails). Despite that last point it still works great, the only [mild] issue I've noticed is that the brake does not seem as effective anymore (it takes several seconds to stop the blade). And also I was never able to get the clamp to work whatsoever. It's a good starter tool as the slider lets you make half lap joints, but if you have a table saw as I do now, it just seems to take up unnecessary shop space - thinking of trading mine for a fixed version.

Thanks for the review...I just bought a 12” one Your review already made me glad I got it and I haven’t even opened the box yet I have to admit, I ended up getting a Delta Cruzer miter saw. It cost a lot more...I use it for Regular wood working projects. It slides as smooth as butter. It also doesn’t use those sliding rods, it has an interesting mechanical arm so it can sit basically flush with the wall and easily slides forward and back with very little resistance. It’s a long-term investment for me. Very solid saw and maybe the best one out there right now. Anyways, this is supposed to be about the Ryobi.

Not gonna lie I bought one of these and am very disappointed in it. I was using it to re-trim a house. I have re-calibrated the fence and vertical axis multiple times. It does not hold 0 vertical well at all, very obvious when coping base board. And cutting miters is completely hit and miss. Wish I would have bought a bosch or Dewalt.

well two things, one is how it is stored, I knew some one who would store it in a very humid place and we had to wipe and WD-40 it to get it sliding again. also he let it sit too long. That and wipe it down after a rough job, because sand and grime can make make it gritty and rough causing it to gain friction. Other then that unless it some sort of defect, routine maintenance should keep it sliding.

While that may be true, Ryobi is a homeowner brand and is not going to hold up to the likes of Milwaukee. Then again that's why the price points are so much lower.

Hmm... I disagree, there are many ryobi users myself included that have tools from ryobi for years with no issues. I've used mine in automotive for 6yrs with no issues and replaced my old blue with the new brushless line. Others stated they on a contractor level havent had any issues. The craftsmanship from my personal experience is excellent. I would expect it to be inferior but I intentionally abused my tools to see how durable they are, that includes dropping them carelessly, leaving out in the rain (that was entirely accidental) on a job site and everything still worked and works fine, and pushing/using them with an attempt to bog down. Despite these attempts over years no issues. Reason I personally love and stick to ryobi. I do love Milwaukee and I really want their impact wrench as the ryobi one I have is only 300 ft lbs of torque. Hopefully that'll change with a new brushless 1/2"

I've owned and used a set of Ryobi Drill and impact driver for 9 years. Its been used in the Nevada Desert and dust and back. Still kickin and work great.

@@emmanuelmota1 Well this is a homeowner grade tool. It's just what it is. Pros pay a little more and use them everyday. Both tools have there place.

Thinking of the Bosch with the attenuating arm. But you could buy two of these Ryobi's and have money left over. But I only need one.

If any of that old lumber is pressure treated, you do NOT want to use it as firewood (or burn it at all). It is TOXIC to burn. People have become severely ill when using it as firewood.

Ryobi = crap. They don't even have a quality control system to ensure their products are not shipped with defects. Mine came with no holes in the metal base to install the workpiece support arms. I live out in the country, 3 hours away from where I bought it, so there simply is no taking it back to the place of purchase for exchange or refund!!

Why? 100% of the saws you can carry out of a store today will do this. ACCURACY matters to people with 1/2 a brain. Does the blade dish? Are the miters accurate? Is it square out of the box? "Melleninial Review" is so spot on. Your GEN makes videos that are great at wasting peoples time. I stopped well short.

You are never supposed to raise the blade while it is spinning, and you did that the entire time. Please don't show people how to endanger themselves! Learn the proper way before you teach others.

I don't want to argue with you. Raise it up while it spinning all you want. My point is, when you're showing people how to do it at least "tell them" the right way.

No video is perfect. Anybody that buys the saw should read the user manual, then take responsibility for using the saw the right way.

Good video. I looked at this at my Home Depot yesterday, and I think I’m going back today to pick it up. Amazing how some folks think free videos should come with a set of instructions?
