This seemed like a good first miter saw, especially for 95 bucks on Amazon Prime Day. It was delivered this afternoon, and I spent 30 minutes scratching my head over the printed instructions, then went searching for a video. Thankfully I found yours. Had me safely up and running in no time. Great job!

Great video. I'm 70, female, and have been DYI projects all my life. Have a lot of tools and finally decided I needed a compound chop saw (my current non-compound Delta saw won't cut through a 4.5" board I'm using for baseboard). The instructions for this saw are fine, but slow reading. Your video was straight-forward in it's explanations. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for the tutorial! I'm 5'2" and bought this saw to replace my 12" DeWalt compound miter saw that was stolen a year ago. As much as I LOVED that saw it was heavy for me to haul around so I opted for this one for its weight of 24lbs & the $119 price at Menards. The reviews were great!! I always like to see how far I can get with assembly before I open the instructions and sadly it wasn't very far. Then I realized the instructions weren't helpful. So glad I found your video. I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more help😊

Metabo HPT offers a cordless version of this saw at 18V But their best saws are their 36V 10" and 7 1/4 sliding compound mitre saws The 36V Metabo HPT/Hitachi tools also can be used with the AC adapter to plug u to power so no need for a bunch of batteries when u have AC access Also check out ACME tools for the large complete line of MHPT tools Lowes doesnt have the full line in stores other than their "top nailers and fasteners" Im a Mileaukee and Makita guy but have been replacing much of those tools in our contruction and fabricating business as MHPT is really making great tools at good prices and lifetime warranty

Edited to add: you may have to first remove the Phillips head screw in the plastic bevel handle to access the turntable bolt.

Any tips for taking the bolt off during blade change? Did as you instructed here but the bolt seems ceased and won’t turn at all. I am holding the lock as well but it will not budge

I can’t get saw to go off bevel. Came out of the box like that. I can’t turn the lever behind the saw to move. Is it locked by a bolt???

I had the same problem. I ended up taking the handle off using a Phillips driver, and attaching a socket (7/16” maybe?) to the shaft. The extra torque from the socket wrench loosened it up with a bit of elbow grease, whereas I was getting nowhere with the included handle. Once I loosened it, I reattached the handle and it works fine now. The saw had been sitting in the original box for a while and seized up. Still having trouble with the cutting angle mechanism, as the pivot screw on the bottom of the machine isn’t as easy to access. Your original comment was 5 months ago so you probably got it working somehow, but hopefully this can help someone else.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. The black nob at the back the controls the bevel came out and now it won't go back in. The bolt seems to be too big for the hole. How do I fix this??!

Mmm nice saw. I’m currently looking for a battery powered Miter saw however. Any suggestions? I have a fondness for Milwaukee tools. I have a few of their powered tools over 20years old and they are working great. Nice video appreciate your safety points of view.

Loved review. Just setup mine. When putting saw for 90 degree corner, the saw blade is slightly off and the indented measurements 45 degree angles. I’ve tried to adjust it so the blade is line up perfectly with the number 45 , but can’t find a way to hold it there. Would appreciate any information. Thanks.

I just received my saw. The box had clearly been opened and retaped. Wondering if I should just send it back. The little plate that goes behind the fence is missing and whatever screws came with it. Hard to see all of little parts in the video. I do have all the bigger piece and one knob. HPT sent me a parts list, if that can locate All the parts and I’m missing, they will send them to me. There are a lot of parts so not sure I can do that. So a few questions: I it safe to use without that plate for the fence? What difference will it make if I put fence on without it? Or should I just send it back?

I appreciate the review on the metabo miter saw. The section on usage was quite informative. Would there be any recommendations as an alternative for the post that you were not able to cut?

How the hell did your blade come off that easily? I can’t get mine off at all, put a big dent in the table too trying to get leverage on the Allen.

Can you show how to make sure everything is square and how to adjust if not. I read some reviews saying it. Was not aligned or squared correctly.

Woodworking Beginner: New - Update. This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work). Tips and Test: Read this first before you buying a miter saw! It's better to know than not to know. Important to know if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. First option: handle vertical positioned above the saw blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact/ Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. (test is completed). Conclusion: Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Remember this, the test is only about torsion and nothing else how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, you better not go for that. (the choices are yours). Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner... P.S. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.

I have this saw on my work table but the dust collector bag is mostly useless. Even when connecting a shop vac to the back theres scattered debrie. Is there anything youve tried as a homemade add on. Thanks

I'm like you. I have my Milwaukee 10" older slide compound saw for all my detail work and never sees a 2×4. My 180 tooth blade is my best as well. I have an older 10" Makita I use for just simple build projects that don't need real detail work, even though you can use it if needed. My blades are always sharpened regardless of a project. This, of course, takes the pressure off the brushes and other things. Thank you for this post and sharing with so many others. 🔨👍🏻

I remember, my father had a old Makita saw, and it still works today! They make a great saw. If you’re in the trades, I definitely feel like two different saws is essential. 180 tooth blade is definitely a fine blade! Keeps the cuts nice and clean. Thanks for your comment David! Take care!
