Lisa, I know, it's unbelievable! But, it's not. It's real!!! She has just come out with another version of this song (at 16 years old) and it's wonderful. When you think it's time for you to hear her new version I know you will enjoy it very much. But, many of us will always regard this version (when she was 10 years old) as something incredibly fantastic. I've heard it hundreds of times and, you know what, I was crying along with you. For two reasons. One, because she sang it with so much emotion it just blows you away. And, secondly, because I saw the affect she had on you and, may I include all her 'angels' around the world, we cry because we are so happy to see people like you react to her the way you did. We want everyone in the world to hear the soulfulness in her voice and the love we feel in our hearts when she sings for us. How can she do this to us at 10 years old? She has a gift and, more importantly, she is a gift for all of us to cherish.

I recommend that you react to Angelina's "My Funny Valentine" cover released 2/14/22. It really shows how much her voice has matured.

I much prefer this version to her more recent one. It respects the song more. It is a song of pure innocence, sung by a naive teenager to an older teenage boy on whom she has a crush. The dynamics of this version are astounding and the emotional impact overwhelming. As you say, Angelina sings this with love, she almost cradles the song in her arms. By contrast, her more recent version is an efficient display of vocal talent, but the innocence has gone (as has the beautiful lead-in). Moral: never try to improve on perfection.

I implore you to watch Angelina’s 2022 Valentine’s Day release of her remake of this song. In a sense, you are right, but the context is much different. There is the innocence of a child in this version, but it was live in the privacy of her home, a dim, enveloping light, the novelty for her of a song perhaps sung for the first time. A spontaneous delivery. The most recent version is an amateur video shot on the fly, over an audio recording. I don't think it's a Republic Records thing, too amateurish. Where I disagree with you is that I think there is heart in the new version. I would love to see her sing this version in the same conditions as this video. I've noticed that she is one of the few singers who is better live than in the studio. For example, her AGT version of Bohemian Rhapsody is much better than the studio version she released after. More soul and heart.

Samantha, this hit you the same way it hits me every time I watch it. She had just turned 10 a month earlier. Many people tear up on a lot of her songs but for me there are only 2-3 that do that. This one really gets to me. It's a beautiful performance, the passion and emotion and how she manipulates the phrasing and contorts her voice to get the perfect sound is beyond phenomenal. When she opens her mouth wide for the belts with outstretched arms sends chills down my spine. Everything about this just says "Angel". Well said Frank. I totally agree with you. I was wondering if following this up with the just-released version makes sense, and I really think it does. What strikes me about the two, is that they are totally different, seemingly performed by two totally different people. Picking one to like over the other is not the point, they are both wonderful in their own unique way. The two versions will remain favorites, each one a bookend supporting Angelina’s broad-spectrum of emotional singing abilities. Wonderful, beautiful reaction Samantha. I hope you decide to follow up this performance with Angelina’s newest version of it. You will be amazed at her exponential growth as an artist. ❤️👣

Yes to everything you said. Angelina, even at 10, takes us to another place and time. Her just released cover of this song is beautiful, showing us a mature interpretation with vocal control, texture, and tone that no one can match today. But I can’t say I like it better than this one. It’s impossible to pick any song as Angelina’s best. She covers so much musical territory so perfectly that what you heard last might be your favorite until you hear the next one. I don’t think you’ve reacted to her performance of “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”. It’s from a similar era as My Funny Valentine, and Angelina is 10 for this one too, I believe. It’s a very mature Cole Porter song. Her interpretation is phenomenal, as is her vocal ability. Her version is so good that people compare it to the original hit by Ella Fitzgerald. I just don't understand why this version didn;t go viral. It leaves me speechless it's so good, recorded while she was sat at home on the sofa!

This performance was honestly a wondrous take on this old classic jazz standard from 1937. Now you need to get a box of tissues ready and listen to this year's version which Angelina released for Valentine's Day. Six years apart and the growth is extraordinary. Every one of the greats of yesteryear are there! Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone... they're all there. I definitely recommend you review the My Funny Valentine that she released this month ASAP. The differences and similarities are equally fascinating. I totally disagree: the new version touches me more than the older one :-) But that’s really really not important: different songs affect different people differently and that’s just the way it should be!
