One of my favorites. Just astonishing for such a young child. Beautiful accompaniment with that guitar-and Angelina’s raspy, multi-textured voice making you feel the essence of this song.

I have never heard anyone sing so beautiful renditions of many Christmas songs as Angelina has sung. And they are real live performances by her.

Even though only eleven, Angelina is singing this in a manner that someone who had been singing for forty years would. Angelina is gifted in a way that only a few are. I hope to hear Angelina's Christmas songs on the radio.

Samantha, thanks for another great reaction to Angelina. A couple days ago, I requested this performance on a livestream hosted by TeeSpicer. She became very emotional right away. After the song, she said she had never heard it before, by Angelina. Tee said her departed, beloved mother, had sung this song as a soloist in their church and the song has roots in the Caribbean. Tee is from Trinidad. So here is the background of the song. "Mary's Boy Child", also known as "Mary's Little Boy Child", is a 1956 Christmas song, written by Jester Hairston. The song had its genesis when Hairston was sharing a room with a friend. The friend asked him to write a song for a birthday party. Hairston wrote the song with a calypso rhythm because the people at the party would be mainly West Indians. Some time later Walter Schumann, at the time conducting Schumann's Hollywood Choir, asked Hairston to write a new Christmas song for his choir. Hairston remembered the calypso rhythm from his old song and wrote new lyrics for it. Harry Belafonte heard the song being performed by the choir and sought permission to record it. It was recorded in 1956 and released as a single that year.

Actually, I forgot that the third song she sang (AIWFCIY) was also imperfect: somehow she started singing it off-mic.😊 But other than that, it's an amazing little gem of a performance. You play that for anyone and just try to convince them that it's an 11-year-old…
