A special note:
While this channel usually censors the names of the subjects, given the fact that this person's name was publicly used on their Hooked on the Look interview and they now have a platform handed to them by Barcroft, a channel with millions of subscribers, LWLN has left their name visible for the sake of public interest.
This "individual" has proven themselves ill suited to represent alt fashion in any respectable way, and as such it is in the public's interest to have their actions and name on record.

I want a world where people recognize and acknowledge a person’s race and the struggles that person has gone through as well as the struggles that race has gone through. But I want a colorblindness where race doesn’t affect the chances of getting a job or receiving good and proper service. Where a person is hired for their knowledge and experience and is only turned away because their experience in the field just isn’t quite “wide”(?) enough. Like basically me or you or anyone would be turned away because someone else has more experience and expertises in the field than us. Basically how job interviews are supposed to be. Did any of this make any sense? I’m so tired.

I see color. That’s part of why I like lolita. I see lots of colors. They’re pretty. Skin Color simply don’t bother me, nor does people pointing out racial disparities on the basis of skin color. Racism exists. Clearly. And to be quite honest the racial disparity is something I kind of noticed myself... it’s kinda hard to miss. We don’t see a lot of black people represented ,prominently, in Lolita. especially models. Which is total BS. It seems to me all Melody was looking to do was bring attention to this and at most was seeking an acknowledgment of that fact. OMG how dare a black person suggest a racial disparity where it clearly exists... I mean Imagine the outrage if she has also asked for people online to acknowledge these FACTS. (Smh)

@Hugh Ropp tribalism sure is a part of humanity. Throughout history humans have done some pretty egregious shit. But the better part of us has been able to transcend some of our more primitive reactions. Wanting to seek revenge to get even was pretty intrinsic to being human for millennia. In much of the world it is part of the social fabric to understand that an eye for an eye leaves the world blind. I say this as an example of how we as humans can transcend our base desires and reactions and instead choose the better part of ourselves.

This is precisely why I don’t bother trying to engage with the alt fashion or music scenes at all anymore. It’s way less frustrating and safer just being weird by myself. Even people who don’t get the way I dress at all treat me better than those supposedly alternative people who claim to know how hard it is to be different. Being treated like an outsider among outsiders just isn’t worth it. I’m honestly feeling super vindicated about staying away right now.

@Tony C first off, nice going. You must live under a rock if you don't understand that people are generally racist and gatekeep shit other races have started not allowing other races in. It's just like how people stereotype this and that as a white people or a black people thing and say you're trying to mock a race by doing something as simple as drinking Starbucks. This is a thing that's been going on for YEARS. Of course you wouldn't know. You don't even seem to be into half the shit this video is based around so you honestly have no place as an outsider to tell someone with experience that their experiences aren't real. Whatever you're convincing yourself of having it really isn't there so hop down from your high horse. Second as a Hispanic girl I've dealt with racism from both ends. I'm too light to be respected by certain blacks but I'm too dark to be respected by certain whites. I've personally been refused to be called by my real name, denied invitations to certain events, and have been kocked down from wearing this or saying that or doing whatever. To hear someone like you: SOMEONE WHO CLEARLY HAS ZERO EXPERIENCE WITH SUCH A THING, say this shit isn't real pisses me the hell off. What are you gonna say next?? Rape isn't real because it never happened to you??? Honestly it's whatever. Go ahead. Continue to be ignorant. I'm not the one setting myself up to die stubborn and stuck in my was being known as a huge dick because I refused to acknowledge that other people can suffer from things I personally don't suffer from. I swear Y'all are so damn sensitive for people who have the balls to say shit like this.

Ex: Finding makeup videos for dark skin Lolitas is almost impossible and if I try a video with a pale skin lolita, I look like I rolled in a sack of flower. Individualism is great, but race is a part of your identity, especially if you’re a minority and that’s not a bad thing! Everyone has different needs in this community and to just pretend like things are hunky dory is just so short sighted. Thank you Tyler for being a white woman in this fashion who understands that black Lolitas have specific struggles and being an open ear instead of trying to live in proverbial fishbowl of ‘racism is over’ to shut the convo down. You’re efforts are seen. To sum it up, this a hot mess, but at least I have some tea to watch the rickety unfold.

I'm a former white nationalist that consults with and counsels people like them on how to leave that life... and I thought this was a beautifully done takedown.. I used to use most of the same "arguments" that they do. Melody... the woman of color that they decided to freak out a bit.. was waaaaay more patient and easygoing than she needed to be. Which is a good thing... no need to sink to their level. Also shows strength. But I admit.. is far less fun than snarkily destroying their bad attempts at spewing non-facts. Melody... if you ever read this.. you are wonderful.. and your perspective is valid. And yes.. in my opinion those two are white nationalists. They'd fit in beliefwise on Stormfront. Probably even tRS or the Daily Stormer. Hel.. they even used some "arguments" that I would have never even used. Edit: I recognize them from somewhere.. and it had to do with white nationalism/alt right.

No one said that one race was better than the other, even 'Melody' said that all races were beautiful, she just wants to see more representation of black women in alt-fashion. You have women here on KZread talking about shit they deal with in the modeling industry for fuck's sake and the original poster said many black women felt like they couldn't wear alt-fashion because of their race or skin color. No one's dividing anything but her, she's the one that tried to call 'Melody" a bigot for telling her no to invalidate the experiences of black women or talk over them. It completely dismisses the fact that all MY life, I've frequently been reduced to NOTHING MORE than a race, and all the false stereotypes associated with it. It completely dismisses the fact that I'm frequently reduced to NOTHING MORE than a cute sweet submissive Chinese doll and if I speak my mind OH BE QUIET YOU AREN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE OPINIONS. So if I speak about how my race has affected me, sit down and listen. As a non-POC, you have the PRIVILEGE of never having to worry that your race affects how you were treated, so saying "But race doesn't matter and we should stop talking about it for true equality" is ignorant and belittling and just shows how blind to your privilege you are.

I love how she yells about freedom of speech and how she doesn't care, but not only blocks people who disagree with her, but makes an almost hour long video complaining about it. Also, I love it when white people quote MLK out of context. It shows they know nothing of his more "radical" statements. The truth is, MLK largely disliked white people like Jessica.

Her barcroft episode was just awful, and her shitposting on facebook was beyond childish. She really played the victim card too much and started tagging several people to attack the people trying to explain that POC really do NOT have much light in the lolita/living doll community (which they don't), or people that said her looks weren't original at all. People were "twisting her words" or "misunderstanding her". I won't even touch on how cringey her boyfriend is. Thinks he's edgy but he's a blunt and boring as spongebob when hes "normal". Funny how the alt-right complains that everyone is ~too easily offended~ but then proceeds to lose their shit at someone saying "pale-skinned people aren't the only ones who can wear these styles" and take it as a personal attack.
