Historically whether you like it or not being pale and white especially in America was seen as desirable and beautiful. Just because it may not be a the current beauty standard (i believe complexion wise current beauty stray toward looking as ‘racially ambiguous as possible) doesn’t mean that the younger generations, the millennials and gen z namely didn’t grow up with and weren’t influenced by older people in their lives who being pale and white *was* the beauty standards. And that can create some genuine friction and identity issues that are worth examining. maybe if you took an extra second and let one more neuron fire you’d have applied sociological critical thinking skills and you’d be a little less annoyed..?

Great speaker, she needs to be careful with her blanket statements though. From what I can tell from this short video is, she seems like an intelligent pretty young lady. But my opinion of her shouldn’t matter, only hers of herself, which is what her overall message is. I believe women are under more pressure from celebrities, the cosmetic/fashion industry and other women to look a certain way than a, “look engineered from men.” I like the way she looks just the way she is… I am a 45yo, Caucasian, male. We all should be aware of over generalizations and blanket statements. They hint at predispositions and a lack of open mindedness. 😊

It’s great you’ve found yourself. I’m happy for you. It’s a shame you felt your feeling bad came from white men though. That really has nothing to do with it. Feeling comfortable about yourself comes from you and no one else even if you have perceived otherwise.

She has a point though. This society was built for the everyman, and the farther away a person is from being the everyman (think of what people see as the default or the generally more preferred skin color, height, size of certain body features, etc.) the relatively more difficult it can be to accept oneself, as the world around you can convince you you should change to be more like the everyman.

@@mattiaslp9645 you obviously didn't listen to the video and are regurgitating talking points. This is the opposite of a victim mentality. That's literally what she's saying tho. Its hard for everyone in some way or another. She gives examples of things that everyone can relate to.....she's just talking about her own experience along with that. You just might learn something and feel better about yourself if you stop downplaying other people's stories and try to relate.
