Purple “GrimPop” underpainting for miniatures. This video features 12 miniatures included in the live Kickstarter of Grimskald. The Kickstarter was funded in 1 hour. This video tries to explain the added value of purple underpainting to your miniatures.
If you are a long time subscriber or patron of this channel, you know I love sepia underpainting. However, I found that purple is a tad more exciting and as weird as it may sound, is more neutral than brown or sepia underpainting.

Thank you for the interesting tutorial Don. I was curious, how would you go about painting "black" over the underpainting? Would it just be a dark contrasting color with grey highlights?

I can't seem to find this exact Vallejo color Chalice Red in my country. I can get pretty much anything else except this one. Can anyone suggest something as an alternative? I'm going to be putting blues over the top if that makes a difference.
