I received these speakers yesterday. . In real use cases for 2 channel music they are very impressive. Especially when connected to a good amp playing vinyl. Of course the real deep bass notes can't be reached but the quality of bass that is present is very enjoyable and the highs are extremely detailed but not shrill. I have not heard a PSB speaker that I didn't like going back to the 30r

Enjoyed the review and just wanted to share some of my experiences with the PSB Alpha P3's which I purchased for $219/pr in April 2020 from Crutchfield. I utilize the P3's for a small bedroom system and the system configuration is: Shunyata Venom Power Cord Rega Brio 3 Integrated Amp Sony DVP-SR510H Oyaide Neo Class A RCA interconnects QED XT25 speaker cables PSB Alpha P3 speakers I too have found that the speakers do maintain their design goal and keep the neutral sound intact even when pushed to greater volumes and have found the soundstage is fair overall. This is the second set of PSB speakers I have owned (first set was the original Image Series 4T home theater set up back in 2002). Midrange is still great in PSB product and with regard to the P3's was happy to find no distortion in the tweeter at all so far. I did tweak the system by replacing the RCA Interconnects. I removed the Chord Company C-Line RCA's and replaced them with the Oyaide Neo Class A RCA's and was immediately rewarded with greater resolution all across the spectrum, richer tones, and deeper and more refined bass. The Chord RCA's made the presentation sound bloated and veiled and the Oyaide cleaned all that up! One thing that has also been a constant is a tendency for the vocals to be pushed out further from the rest of the material and into the room and I happen to really enjoy this quality for my 2CH H.T. needs. I have found the P3's to be a great value and enjoyable listen at the price point.

Thank you for your insight, i agree with how PSB makes the vocals press out into the room more, it's a quality i also enjoy very much, their higher end speakers do it even more and it's very pleasing :)

Nice to see a new reviewer reviewing new speakers, expecting reviews of some new soeakers like the fyne audio f301,and some 500-600 dollor speaker comparison and more sub comparison, like the subs from taga harmoney sw-212se, earthquake ff12 and velodyne 12 mkii subs,as these products are not touched by any youtuber yet and also expecting budget amp comparisons and pairing

  • @brydon10

With your sub, did you still run the speaker full range and then just integrate the sub the best you could at the natural roll-off of the speaker? That's always my problem with subwoofers, hard to integrate. But with an AVR that has bass management it's much easier to set the crossover at 60hz or 80hz or w/e and set the speakers to "small" so they don't try to produce those frequencies too.

Great review and I really appreciate your authentic style, and I wish your channel subscriber will increase fast so that we can see more review from you. I have also watched your 3 sub ( Emov S8,B&W 608..) and that was great as well and really useful as I am also seriously considering Emov S8 and B&W, and the more expensive SVSSB1000. I just bought P3 2 weeks ago and totally agreed with what you said. Problem now is that after watching your review you kind of drive me insane... now I feel I must get the Imagine mini in Canada which is even cheaper than US$350. I guess I would sell my P3 with 30% - 40% loss, assuming someone would buy it. My question is that do you think Imagine mini still partner best with Emotiva Airmotiv S8 sub or the B&W ? or if you upgraded to Imagine mini, SVS SB 1000 would be way better though cost quite a lot more.. I am using the PSB as my desktop system, but will share the sub with my home theater and main audio system for music. I apologize if I seem to consolidate too many questions

I think either the Polk S10 or SVS Prime would make for a better surround speaker. The PSB P3 is too neutral and hard to drive to be a good surround speaker. The SVS and Polk will have a lot more sparkle and be easier to drive so I would happily choose either of those over the P3 for surround use.

While not as good in a stereo configuration the Polk T15 might actually make a better surround speaker as it was designed to be heard off axis and projects into the room more. It's on sale for a meager $69. The NHT should also be a good surround speaker as I believe they are on the brighter side. The uber budget Micca MB42x should make a decent surround speaker as well.

THANK YOU, I had a Klipsh soundbar in my bedroom under a 55' plasma tv, it was ok and died. OK, I went to Costco and bucked up for a Bose 500 system for about $850 with tax. I could not get the thing to do all the downloading and stuff, finally got them to work, CRAP. A caveat I have a real sound system in my living room, Focal and martin logan, Anthem and stuff, I have owned Wilson, Krell and Sonic Frontiers pre amp, which no one has heard of, ok enough bluster. I was considering the PSB P3's, I have owned thier Stratus speakers a long time ago and have a PSB system on my computer-I like PSB. When you said $300 for the imagine mini I jumped for joy( my wife does not understand at all) I found them on eBay yesterday $293 including tax, wow. I also found a mini center channel for $290, the satellites are white and the center is cherry, I don't care. This is still cheaper than the Bose. I had an Onkyo 9 channel reciever laying around and with 130w it should be fine. I already hooked up a pair of 25yr old Boston accoustics bookshelf speakers and they were great for about 5 minutes, the I blew them out. I am so excited it is ridiculous, my wife said I am like a child with audio gear, I don't have a comeback. Again thank you.

I confess that a good or bad opinion can be given regarding PSB Alpha P3 . But how can the youtube watcher draw his conclusions about the differences of both models if he doesn't have music tests here on his channel about what he talked about? He does not think he will be able to demonstrate a video about the musical performance of the two models. In my view, doing this is to contribute to greater satisfaction in listening to him. I recommend based on your opinion to let your KZread follower or observer watch musical demonstrations to draw your conclusions and analyze when heard from the other side of the world at the end you can say whether you liked it or not! For this, it will be correct for the channel to use quality instruments and high quality Hifi capture so that we can feel the difference in the test. Greetings from Portugal. @@NemoPropaganda Sorry for my persistence. In my view it has a somewhat closed view. I say this why? More and more shops are seen to be selling open hi-fi equipment, for a customer to eavesdrop when he intends to buy. On the other hand, salespeople are observed to advertise online about certain equipment. Now think! In Portugal there is only one representative selling PSB and when he sells, he does not have the entire collection to choose from. Through the link I shared with your channel, while listening, I got to know the sound properties of the PSB Alpha 5, and I was curious. Your ideas may partly be justified, but whoever is on this side, wondering if it is worth buying? Advertising is indeed functional and convincing when the seller or advertiser has demonstrative audiophile resources to convince the follower to buy. And the technology has advanced resources to leverage or make known an equipment. This is how I tell you that a certain dish of food is good, but on the other hand, things change when you try that dish to confirm the truth of my words.
