As usual, a clear, structured and to-the-point review. Thank you for this. 9:40, I felt that, that's so me right there. Though one could argue that, if a piece of gear turns out to be a big enough letdown, it can come to a point where you just have to bite the bullet and replace it. Even if you just bought it. If it really doesn't work for you, you won't be able to enjoy it anyway. Better to correct a mistake than stick with it, if it has a big enough impact. With small inconveniences on the other hand, it's better to be able to just let things slide. Greetings from Germany.

Most people can hear these speakers. They are in lots of homes and stores. A well constructed review of big box products really helps folks begin to understand or imagine how more esoteric speakers might sound. Dare I say audiophile type reviews of mass market products gives neophytes a “reference”. Thanks!

I purchased this based on your review and I LOVE THEM! Even though you didn't recommend them, it made me try them along with the Emotiva's. I agree with all your comments, but for my setup and tastes they were perfect. I had the RP-41Ms and the Polk's T15s. the S15s are just great all around speakers. I use them with my computer and they sound great near field. I have an Energy powered 8" sub which just sounds amazing. As you said, it is a sharp looking speaker. Plus, when you open it up, it has bracing, insulation, and other features that you don't find in speakers in its price range. I do take the grills off when laying in bed watching movies, but leave them on when working at my desk. So even though you didn't like them, you gave great impartial information and that is always appreciated.

Hell Yeah man, I'm glad it worked out well for you!! One thing I'll admit is out of all the brands Polk does give you some good quality for the money at the lower end. Those cabinets were rock solid and the gunmetal POLK logo on the grill is one of the nicest looking I've ever seen! Those small touches really impressed me.

Good review. I agree with you on a number of things with S15. I own these and a number of other speakers. The sound is pretty good except the top end can get a little hot with certain music, and the mids are a little recessed relative to some others. I was intrigued by how solid and strong the cabinets felt for inexpensive speakers. I took them apart and WOW! They have large and heavy drivers/magnets, and the crossover was impressive with two big chokes. The quality of these interior components is something more common on $600 bookshelf speakers. I paid $150 at Best Buy for the pair.

I have the S10s for rear channels and played them in stereo for a bit. I thought the high end wasn’t nearly as bright as the Polk Monitor Series. These Signature series seem to have more mids with the highs being rolled off. Hearing them in the store they seemed to sound a bit different. A bit sharp in the vocals.

My hearing has always been very sensitive, so I've not had to turn it way up to enjoy it. Hey @Nemo Propaganda Reviews, if I could choose between the Polk S20 and the PSB Imagine Mini (assume that the price is the same), which one would you recommend? I understand that the S20 would have more bass, extend lower. Aside from that. Thank you!

  • @NemoPropaganda

Imagine Mini is a superior speaker in every way. It will have less bass output but it's bass will be more distinct, articulate, and fast! The imagine mini is more a true audiophile speaker where as the S20 is a budget consumer level speaker with tilted up top end. It's like Honda Ford Mustang GT vs BMW M3, both are sports cars, one is far more refined.

@@NemoPropaganda I sometimes only listen to music for weeks I sometimes only watch movies for weeks I guess it's 50/50. I did grow up playing musical instruments like the piano, trumpet and drums and i'm fussy about sound fidelity but never had the budget to get the best gear. I am also into movies to the point where the head projectionist at our local IMAX sends me a txt msg everytime they change to new bulbs and recalibrate the projectors and I have a modest collection of about 150 action bluray movies. Sadly the wallet supporting this AV enthusiasm is quite malnourished so I currently run an Optoma ML1050ST+ short throw projector on a 100" screen as my actual tv and my 40" flatscreen gets zero use. I also run Micca Mb42-X(C) for front-L/R/C and micca covo S surrounds powered by Yamaha RX-V377 AVR. Bass duties were handled by a make-shift re-purposing of my former sony bookshelf system using the RCA L/R aux in to accept the LFE output signal which I split with Y-adapter RCA jacks from the AVR to create a pseudo dual sub setup. This kept me happy for years till I burnt the bookshelf system amp during excessive quarantine use which brought me to this point where I'm trying to get the bass equipment up a more respectable standard. Since this mishap I have borrowed a friend's onkyo sealed 10" proper THX certified subwoofer and found that it sounds almost the same as my previous setup which gets down only to about 35hz. In onkyo's defense the sony bookshelf speakers were huge (almost as big as a sub enclosure) and each box had a pair of ported 5 inch woofers and a 4" coaxial mid driver/tweeter. I guess with all four 5" woofers performing LFE duties in unison the bass wasn't far off from a single driver fully built sub because they made the whole place vibrate. Anyway to make a long story even longer I got fedup of stressing out about this decision and just decided today to hang on to my friends onkyo sub for a few more weeks (he's not using it anyway) till I can afford the extra couple hundred bucks to get the SVS PB-1000. The footprint is smaller than the BIC F12 which I was considering before the PL200-ii and it gets to 19 Hz at -3db which is exactly what I want from a sub.

How do you buy something for " About" something?. I know that every single time I buy something, I know the exact price and never an " About something". That's just another way to say your lying bro.

If I didn't remember how much something costs it's because the cost was inconsequential to me. I think I have a few more pennies than you so I don't think we share the same perspective with respect to money. I'm sorry that bothers you so much but I don't know the price of a lot of things I buy, I don't know what gas costs, I don't even know what my car payment is nor the day it automatically comes out of my bank account. I have plenty of pennies, no need to hyper obsess on them my guy...
