PSA suddenly doubled - living with stage four metastatic prostate cancer

All of sudden it’s got real, anyone suffering with prostate cancer dreads the call that we get each month to give us our latest PSA reading but nothing can compare you for the one that says your PSA has doubled
Thank you for watching this video, I’ve been making these videos as a vlog sharing my journey through Advanced Metastatic Prostate Cancer.
My world literally fell apart on Sept 15th 2021 when I was diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer which according to my Oncologist is incurable (although ive never accepted that) Questions such as how long have I got left how bad is it , in fact, a whole host of frightening thoughts, where suddenly swarming around my mind and exploding at opportune moments when I felt most vulnerable.
If I were to be honest, I was lost and lonely to begin with. People don’t know how to deal with someone who has stage four cancer. It’s a taboo subject. I honestly didn’t know who to turn to for help. It can be a dark place and I only wish I could have found a channel such as this to help me through those early days.
I started writing a blog whilst I was in hospital and recovering at home after the initial treatment phase.
I then decided to make this vlog because it seemed a better way to get my story out there. I want to provide a channel where I would continue telling my story for as long as I can and invite comments from others that can also help and share their own experiences.
Cancer can be a lonely place, and I hope this channel will help someone else who may be a bit lost and feel alone whilst dealing with their own diagnosis and experience.
Nothing is ever as bad as you think it will be, and that seems to be the case so far with my experience with Prostate Cancer.
Thank you for watching the video. Please comment and subscribe if you feel like it, and please share the videos with anyone you think may find them helpful
Woody ❤️

Hi Woody , so much admire your positivity. My brother and I have been advised to keep an eye on our PSA because my father had surgery on his prostate 14 years ago,?but my GP tells me I can’t have a blood test because it’s not quite a year since my last test!!!! , the tv is nightly is reminding us that we us men from mid life on should keep one eye on things! screening and prevention are the new words in this future approach!!!! but hay this is modern Britain, sorry for my rant. Thinking of you mate and try to enjoy your family holiday. Mark, beef/arable farmer from Cheshire/Shropshire border

Woody, sorry to hear about your psa rise- hang in there and as you say enjoy every day as it comes along, that’s a lesson that we all learn on this journey. You are dead right about the AI. A gripe of mine is how hopeless (ie non existent) our PC screening is in the UK. It’s because of this that we have people with stage 4 PC . This is an easy task for AI. I was looking at the data of my blood test records and it is a classic case for AI analysis - that’s what I do in my day job _ I am a scientist working in analysing ( making sense of) of big complicated data files. I nearly asked the oncologist if I could have the data so I could run it through my software. I don’t think he would have got it, and at the time we were meant to be focussing on my latest mri scan so I let it go. Stay positive and keep the videos coming.

@@Livingwith-prostatecancer Woody yes it looks like my mets have "dissappeared". I had 5 in my lymphs and one on my spine. The oncologist thinks it is the Prostap and apalautamide, I think my excercising is also helping. Am having a further MRI in 6 weeks to confirm. Then if that is clear I think I will pay for a PSMA PET scan to really see what is happening ( the the doc says he can't do that for some reason) Any mets left I will then go for spot radiation treatment. - Keep the videos coming!

How high is the PSA now....doubling sucks, for sure, however, as you know, there are other medications available. Keep in mind men live for a long, long time with prostate cancer. If your cancer was the aggressive type, you would be dead already. So, I am confident that you will deal with it, and live a long time ( I had prostate cancer myself and have ongoing PSA tests too), and have had a number of treatments (not an "active surveillance" patient at all).

My PSA started doubling every month which is scary. I did some research and found cooked tomato products were very helpful. I started taking tomato ketchup 3 times a day off a spoon and it stopped rising. Now I take tomato puree about 20 grams 3 times a day plus some ketchup and I'm fine. I'll just keep on this. I treat it as medicine. I'd rather do this than chemo which will still fail eventually. Good luck and take care whatever you do.

Cooked tomatoes, especially Roma tomatoes absolutely help lower PSA and are extremely helpful as part of prostate cancer treatment. Eat tomatoes every day. Every single day. Stewed, cooked, even raw. But, the cooked is better.
