Your positivity is an inspiration for many. I don't know if NHS allows it but instead of degerelix, I get eligard, it's only once every 6 months. I get those same feelings just not as often. Keep your head up Woody and a smile on your face

Woody I am sorry that your PSA has crept up to 0.63 but stay with your positive attitude as you have family and a job that you enjoy.

As always, thanks Woody for update. And for being yourself. Can identify with the regular psa checks, my journey started in 2012 with bracytherapy, cancer went ,came back 2020, on hormone treatment , 6months on/ off. Mind yourself, keep laughing, god bless Phil, in Wexford, Ireland.

Thank you Phil, you have done amazing to keep going over 12 years, it inspires me and others to keep believing that our own journeys can be much longer than we perhaps anticipate st first. Keep going for at least another 12 years 🙏

I have to see oncologist tomorrow, diagnosed 3 weeks ago and put straight on hormone theraphy ( pills to start and a first of many 3 monthly injections.) - Had urine flow problems for ages but put it down to old man (75) problems. Wife saw King Charles report of bladder problems and made me go for a PSA test - it came out just over 1000. Scans showed it had spread to bone !!! But unlike you I had no pains and still have no pains - just a poor urine flow. Not sure what will happen tomorrow when I meet Oncologist. As an aside I read Cancer UK site and was fascinated with broccoli soup properties :-) I may offer myself for a clinical trial if one is suitable.God bless you

Thank you Bert I hope it all goes well for you I think diet is a really important factor in helping ourselves become stronger Broccoli doesn’t surprise me The lack of awareness about the symptoms to this cancer is incredible I think with more public knowledge we could save many men from getting to the stage four cancer situation

I guess all these ADT medicines have similar side effects. I am on 3 monthly Prostap injections for next 2 years and haven't felt well since starting them, hot flushes, at least 6-10 a day, feeling tired all the time, joint pain and insomnia' I am going to have 33 rounds of Radiotherapy in the summer. Had prostatectomy 18 months ago, but its spread to lymph nodes. Keep going, Woody, there is no other choice. We must stay alive as long as possible for our loved ones, hard though it is. Looking forward to spring as this constant awful weather is a knock-back. Some sun on our backs will make a big difference, I am sure. Best wishes Graham.

Have been through the same Graham. Starting 11 years ago. Recent was lymph node metastasis. I've been watching Dr. Sholtz on KZread. He has a prostate cancer research facility in the states. My Dr's are great, but i seem to get a bit more detailed info from him. All the best Graham. Regards, Carl

Yes adt means chemical castration and organs in the body can only with difficulty live without testosterone, so fatigue comes. Only cancer patients know how hard is to bear this fatigue. And other treatmens add to it. But it is the only way to prolongue life. Best wishes to you!

I wish you all best, dear Woody, I have cancer 17 years and wish to live some more years, so 20 years with prostate cancer is quite possible, and even more, of course. It is but true that degarelix injections are terrible, so I dared to skip the last one, but will take the next one. Be optimistic, long life is before you.

I finished hormone and radiation therapy in Dec 23. I'm looking forward to getting some testosterone back but its slow going. Next PSA test will be in Mar and I'll find out if I'm on the mend or not but it looks good. I've lost some patience with the process and use anglo saxon phrases to tell it to F off, which somehow helps. I've given this whole process enough time and worry. I still can't believe I've actually had to go through this but I'm "soldiering on". No problems, can't keep a good man down! Thanks for posting, keep punching (metaphorically - LOL)

Thank you for sharing Woody. It helps hear your journey and feelings. My dad has prostate cancer undergoing chemo. It seems the weight of not knowing and waiting for the psa, scans results has been among the most stressful. I’m thanking God your cancer is moving slow and I pray it stays that way or goes away altogether.

I have been on Lupron for 15 months now. I just had the 6 monthly dose injected this afternoon. Speaking from experience I hope I am not commenting out of turn, but it can be pretty rough. As our friend says a positive attitude and outlook is essential. Yes, there will be times you hit a mental and emotional wall, take a breath and ease into a relaxed mind. If your bowel movement becomes let's just say urgent. I suggest cutting down on fibre. Some people however experience constipation, I have found the complete opposite. See my comment for some important information most doctors leave out about the hormone blocker treatment.

My gleason score is 3+3 =6 2020 PSA was 15.4 has been high as 19 and low as 12 now its 15. I'm just being monitored with PSA test every 6 months. Had two biopsy's first two years. But PSA is only an indication, when cycling its increases, doctors never told my this increases PSA level, had to find it out myself. Found when i was drinking glass of water every morning with teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in PSA dropped to 12

From all that you’ve said woody the slow growing comment should give you plenty of hope and I agree with the comment that to live with prostate cancer for 15 to 20 years is not rare so remain positive and god bless you, I myself have lived with it for 18 years and still going I’m now on 10 cycles of laxadocial chemo therapy and hope of further remission and a normal lifespan I am now 78 years old having been diagnosed at 62 years old with Gleason score of 7 … 4plus 3

Everyone has a finite number of days left, but no one knows that number. Having cancer reminds us of that. All you can do to hopefully extend those days is choose the best medical care/treatment available added with improving diet and fitness routines. Whatever days we have ahead, if they are going to be limited, we might as well get our minds right and make the best of each day, Subscribed and pulling for you.

Hi Woody With you on your journey. I didn’t have any side effects from infection like you are having. I was on Zoladex every three months. Now taking a holiday and will see what happens. Are they suggesting you take a next generation hormone treatment in conjunction with your HDT? Cheers Ian.

Woody sorry to hear that your monthly injections are not that easy for you. I get a Prostap every three months and luckily for me it doesn’t seem to affect me. My psa is dropping but still much higher than yours ( 5 in December) . I know exactly what you mean about the worry about the blood tests. But your numbers look good-so keep positive. I have just had a 6 week course of radiation ( 6 visits one a week). I am hoping that the psa will drop and the continued effects of the ADT will knock my psa down. Keep the videos coming-it helps the rest of us

You’re on a bit of journey mate! As someone who’s been on this journey is there no reason you can’t have the prostatectomy operation?

  • @michaelchristensen2786

    @michaelchristensen2786

    4 ай бұрын

With a PSA as low as his I suspect he's had that operation already. The problem is any PSA at that point is due to prostate cells outside of the prostate and likely cancerous.
