Ingredients
½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, at room temperature
½ cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar
½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ¼ cup (185 g) all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp (7.5 g) cornstarch
½ tsp (2.5 g) baking soda
½ tsp (2.5 g) salt
1 ½ cup (262 g) chocolate chips
1 cup (100 g) lightly toasted, coarsely chopped pecans (optional)
Directions
1. Cream the butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar together well. Beat in the egg and the vanilla.
2. In a separate bowl, sift the flour with the cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Add this to the butter mixture and stir until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and pecans (if using).
3. Using a small ice cream scoop or a tablespoon, scoop spoonfuls of dough (about 2 Tbsp) shape them into a ball and place onto a parchment lined baking tray or a plate. Chill the scooped cookies for at least an hour, or once chilled, the cookies can be frozen for baking later.
4. Preheat the oven to 325ºF (162 C). Arrange the chilled scooped cookies onto parchment-lined baking trays, leaving 3 inches between the cookies. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until browned around the edges. Cool the cookies on the baking tray. If baking cookie dough that has been frozen, arrange the frozen cookies on the baking tray and let them thaw for 20 minutes at room temperature before baking as above.
Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Hello. I am in my 50's and I've tried and tried and tried to make Chocolate Chip cookies, and i have failed every single time. I can bake cheese cakes all day long with great success - but Chocolate Chip cookies have ALWAYS been my nemesis. YOU ARE A GENIUS!! I watched the video above a week ago and took a few days to decide if I would even try (yet again) as I had said a couple years ago I was just done trying and only failing. I can't even tell you how happy I am (and my husband). I made your recipe yesterday - and lets just say there's about 6 left.. My husband and I can't stop talking about how great this recipe is. You solved all the problems I had - my cookies in the past spread out too much, didn't stay soft in the center and were flat..... NOT anymore!!!! Thank you so much - you have no idea how happy this makes me. :)
Hi Anna, Thank you so much for this recipe. My grandson loves chocolate chips cookies but I have never been able to master them. He is graduating from university next week and we found out yesterday that he received an award for the highest grade in the Political Science Department. We are so proud of him. I made your cookies today for Alekzander as he will be visiting us this afternoon. Regards, Julianne (a very proud Nanna)

I made this cookies and it turned out AMAAZINGG! itss soft and chewy , but i personally prefer to reduced the sugar , so i use 150gr instead of 200gr , so 75gr white sugar + 75gr brown sugar , i think its a perfect amount of sweetness!

I can usually bake cakes and pastries but cookies is really something that frustrates me. Thank you soooo much!! Everybody loves your recipe😍😍
The. Best. Cookie . Recipe!! Thanks Anna! The cookies had a beautiful crust on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside. What I loved a lot was the fact that they held a nice shape rather than these flat translucent cookies. I will definitely be going back to this recipe forever! ❤️
I tried this recipe and ended up with the best cookies ever. Just perfect crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Instead of chocolate chips, I used chocolate chunks of a 55% dark chocolate. Also, I have noticed that the cookies produce better shape if you freeze the dough balls overnight. Love love love how this recipe is so simple.

Half cup isn't 100 grams like stated in the description box. It's actually 64 gr. I made this with 50-60 grams of each brown and granulated sugar and the result is sweet enough. Glad I listened to my intuition

Check your math. A cup of sugar is 7 ounces so a 1/2 cup is 3.5 ounces. Multiplied by 28.35 is 99 grams. Not 64

Beautiful woman hello how are you doing today I hope you good?
This is my first time baking cookies. I must say this recipe is so easy to follow and the result is fantastic. Thank you so sharing such a lovely recipe. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Anna! This is the only recipe that has worked for me! I'm definitely trying some of these other videos.
Literally the best cookie ever!! It's chewy in the inside and crunchy on the outside! (I replaced the light brown sugar with the brown sugar) Definitely worth to give the recipe a try!!

OMG! I love YOU FINALLY I have someone that ACTUALLY shows me what to do! I find so many videos and they all do is talk, talk, and more talk! You talk and get straight to the point! I respect it and love it. Now I can learn how to make cookies :)
When I was little, I used to wake up so early and I remember watching Baking with Anna Olsen at like 9am in the spring and I could watch her all day! So nostalgic! Maybe you started my love of baking...
BEST COOKIES I'VE EVER MADE 😍😍😍 I didn't have pecans so I added toasted almonds and they tasted divineeee. I've tried so many recipes and this is the only one that worked for me 😂 Everyone loved the cookies so much. Thank you ❤️
This is the BEST recipe I have ever tried!! Thank you!!💜💜💜

OMG I made these cookies I dont know how many times (at least half a dozen)! I only use 70g of each sugar instead of 100g and brown sugar instead of light-brown. Always a major hit! Tk u so much for this recipe 🤗

I've never baked cookies before (Unless you count 30 years ago when I was 5 and helped my grandma), so I decided to give it a shot. I followed this recipe and they came out fantastic! Thank you so much for your great videos.
FINALLY!! I have been searching for the perfect chocolate chip cookie for years. Oh my goodness amazing!! Who knew cornstarch was the secret ingredient!! Thank you!!
the cookies came our great! For the first batch, i baked for 18 minutes and it was chewy in the inside and a bit crispy on the outside. For the second one, i added a few more minutes and it was crispier but the inside were still quite chewy. Note that i also didn’t use chocolate chips, i used compound chocolate but it still turned out great. This will definitely be my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe!!
I made them! My kitchen smells incredible! I am just waiting to try them... They are delicious!!! Thank you very much Anna Olson for teaching us so well.
I can't wait to bake these. I am thrilled I found Anna 🎉
I’m over 60 and have been baking chocolate chip cookies my whole life. This by far is hands down THE best recipe ever! It checks all the crunchy/chewy goodness boxes! I doubled this recipe and used butter flavor Crisco in place of the butter since it’s what I had. Added butterscotch chips in addition to the chocolate chips too since I needed to clear out my baking stash from the holidays. Who’d have thought cornstarch…huh. MAGIC! Thank you Anna!!💖
