Problem with Vax Dual power carpet washer W86-DP-B
This video is about problem with Vax Dual power carpet washer W86-DP-B problem is that it’s making a strange noise and some smoke was coming out at the back of the machine and the plastic pulley began to bubble up. This problem has also effected a few batches of this machine so Vax sort out the problem

I just got this one used it once and the belt has burnt out... amazon replacing it but feel like the same thing will happen so may purchase the vax platinum one. Disappointed to say the least

Mine Vax Dual power has been thrown out because things kept going wrong on it one the belt snapped it was fixed the belt tensioner brunt out it was also fixed but it kept tripping the electrics so it binned it so I bought a vax platinum one

I think you have the concept of operation of the drive belt wrong. The belt should go slack when the machine is stood upright and then the cleaning rollers will stop. When you tilt the handle into the cleaning position, the pulley wheel (in the cover you removed) will press against the belt and tension it so that the rollers will spin when cleaning.
Very disappointed with our Vax carpet cleaner, used infrequently, just out of warranty and the pully/belt gave up the ghost. Unable to purchase new one so it is scrap!
