As a Serbian, this loss hurts much more then WC2014 final agains closest to Dream Team USA. That game was a 1 sided and here we actually were very close to be championes. Congrats to Germany, deserved win, undefeated whole tournament and really showed nice team basketball. 🎉

It's not that bad for me, our rotation was shortened due to injury, Bogi and Milutinov (If I understood correctly) were unlucky to catch a bug after the Canada game, Jovic showed lack of experience and we didn't have a good sub for him unless we wanted to go really small ball (and I think we would go down even worse if we did that, as Jovic was still good on the defensive end). The boys fought their hardest and lost a really close game, hats off for both teams, didn't feel like someone threw the game, just that the stronger team won.

One of my best friends is from Serbia. He was very dissappointed on Sunday, but when I met him yesterday, we hugged and the first thing he said was 'Glückwunsch, Alter...habt ihr Euch verdient!' (Congrats, mate...you earned it!) I would've reacted the same way, if Serbia would've won. Respect is everything when it comes to sports. And playing a World Cup Final - in any sport - deserves respect, no matter if you win or not. It's incredibly difficult to get there. ❤🍻

As a German I was very impressed by the serbians. Avramoviic made an insane gane, especially in the last quarter. Great, hard foughtened final, as it has to be.

Man as Serbian I'm very disappointed in us no matter if we didn't have best players nobody did I want to blame refs but they were horrible for both sides in the end you deserved to win you were on that level whole game and whole turnoment congrats I'm proud and sad for my boys they came to final but couldn't close it still that's big success with 10 man rotation

@@nemajabakic4546 I think playing world-class basketball against everybody else is good enough. Honestly, such a close game for most of it. I am sure the Serbian team can be proud of themselves for their performance and I personally believe that they have a good chance in the next years to win at least once.

This is really the generation that was inspired by Dirk, so to see the first german squad with 5 Nba-Players on the court at once come together as such a cohesive unit was amazing to witness. Shoutout to your commentary, love from Bochum Germany.

I think Dirk Nowitzki and Detlef Schrempf had a huge impact at this generation.

As much as i love watching NBA, national sports are much more personal and fun to watch and cheer on. Also, this year silver, next time gold :D

Random German and occasional/casual basketball fan here: both teams gave it their all. Both teams would have been well deserved champions. In the end (of course) I am happy we had the better outcome on our side. Most of all I am happy that there were no questionable calls by the refs in crunch time. It could have went both ways, tough win. Normally it’s hard to be proud about a lost final, button this case I think there enough to be proud about the performance of your fellow countryman on the court! See you in the Olympic tournament in 2024.

As a Raptors fan, it's always nice to see the love Schröder gets from the Laker fans, super happy with this pick up. I'm no FVV hater but I think Dennis on 13m is a much better building block than Fred on 30m, so glad things turned out the way they did.

Agreed, you aint winning shit with van vleet at 30 mil, Schröder at 13 mil is a bargain. In his early 20's he led the Hawks to the playoffs and scored around 24 ppg in the Playoffs against Wall. If he is your 4th or 5th best guy playing a meaningful role, he is a much better investment than van vleet at more than twice the price

Serbian here, I really enjoyed your comments on various FIBA games during the world cup. As for the finals it's a bit sad that besides Simanic who couldn't play Dobric also got injured at the start of the game and Bogdan and Milutinov had some heath problems. But those things happen in the tournament so congratulations to Germany who really deserved this gold, they were better in this game, they were undefeated in the tournament and they brought their best team. So congratulations to Germany but also to Serbia, the guys really fought hard, gave their all and in the end overachieved, they got a medal, secured Olympics spot and got a heroes welcome when they came home.

I think it was a great run by both teams that showed great team oriented basketball. It is a big step for Germany and was a good final that showed why these teams came as far as they did.

Dennis Schröder has good potential that he was able to show at FIBA WC. Now he has to live up to that in the NBA.

Obst is an absolute sniper and an extremely smart player! He would tear the nba absolutely apart from the 3 point line. He s a menace. Think of a consistently hot Tim Hardaway JR type sniper with much much better playmaking and defense. He could easily be a second ballhandler on the team.

"Obst" - If you translate his name directly, it would be "fruit" :D

As a Dallas - Dirk fan. I'll take this as a win. What Dirk can't win on his national team stint, Dennis did it. I followed Dirk all through out and saw Dennis as an up coming star before. I'm glad that Germany did it! They conquered the World Basketball and not through world war 2 😂

I think Dirk played his part in this win. Maybe not on the field, but without Dirk there wouldn’t have been that Basketball Hype that got a lot of German kids into the sport.

fiba was catching the nba since 1978 when Maccabi Tel Aviv beat the Washington Bullets in a friendly game in Israel. That was the first step. I think it's a great thing. I also think fiba did it correctly, copying the nba, taking all the good in it, and keeping all the things that always made basketball what it is. I always watched fiba games, I'm from Spain, I'm old enough to remember when the nba wasn't being broadcasted over here, and I remember when we discovered the nba in the 80s, first 90s and why we fall in love with it. I care less and less. I care for some playoff games, the finals and that's all. Even teams change every season, it makes everything worst. It's very disapointing.

Even for Nba standards Schröder's accelaration is elite. No wonder he is getting to the rim at will against more fundamentely sound but less athletic teams like Serbia. If Obst has actually Nba range, he could play a role as a 8th man in the nba, he also showed vast improvements as a playmaker. Bonga could also return to the nba if he can hit threes at 35%, his defense was really impressive throughout the tournament. Franz could follow a similar career trajectory as Detlef Schrempf, he really has the potential to make multiple all-star teams.

Shout out to the Serbian Squad, even on a tied game until halftime it felt like (from a german perspective) that they were up by 10 the whole halftime. High pressure, good defense and offense!

Thanks for your videos. Yes, and that is one aspect, as a German or as a non-American, that the NBA always says now the winner is world champion. That's simply not true. As an NBA winner, you are champion of the USA, period. If you want to be world champion you have to play the world championships, period.

I watched this whole game live and it was very interesting and definitely one to show in basketball schools. In the first half it felt like Serbia was in control, despite the close score. That flipped in that 3rd quarter, where they started to lose their confidence and self-assuredness and from then on it did not really feel like a comeback was gonna happen.

Still trying to figure out why Bogdanovic, despite absolutely delivering big time in the first half, seemed to disappear in the 2nd half. Avramovic did an amazing job at keeping them in the game, but the Serbs really needed Bogi in this game.

I still cant believe it, that germany beats usa in Basketball.

About USA, I guess many in Europe were happy that USA lost. Don't get me wrong, you great players and all, but USA plays without defence and think very high about their style of playing while in Europe players bleed for every ball. USA are most likely best team every if you only look at attacking basketball. As for Germany and Serbia I was happy that they got to finals as they had both (ATK and DEF). Sure, Germany is more of attacking style team but they can defend as team. Those teams had nice balance of NBA (3-4 in each team) and Euroleague (around 6) players so I guess, having influence of Europe and North America baasketball styles lead them to finals. Overal, I think it was great WC, top 8 was almost equal in power. I know many will say that their team was lacking top players but same for most teams. Just enjoy basketball and hope Olympic games will be as fun. And love the video, great work.

I am so happy that Germany got the best out of that Team! Serbs are not welcomed at all but Politics beside they played a good game! With all the fouls Germany would have won double the points! It was really bad!

A basketball champions league would be really great. Only the two oceans save them from that. Of course, in the first few seasons it is very likely that many US teams wiped the floor with us. But we would have a foot in the door and it would be a dream to be like this for a local club and watch them grow to this level. And the USA could practically show that they are really world champions and, more importantly, can then keep this title. (Which I somewhat doubt. 😜) ​
