Prevent Injuries With This Burpee Focused Warm-Up

Ойын-сауық

Before every burpee workout, I take a 5-10 minutes to warm-up. Warming your body and muscles up before starting any burpee workout has helped me remain injury free, over the last 4 years.
Working out or training consistently can be difficult at the best of times. If you add a serious injury into the mix, or even a nagging injury, it can really derail the momentum you have worked so hard to build.
I spend a lot of time discussing various topics throughout this video. I hope my thoughts and experiences provide some value to all of you.
The Workout:
5 pull-ups
10 1 pump burpees
15 squats

A warm up is SO important and only becomes more important as we age. I could tell so many stories just about warm ups! Playing squash, a warm up was essential because you are immediately flying around the court and need to be at your best flexibility and lightly sweating before the game begins. Tournaments would be filled with corridors and random places being used for warming up before their match. Someone told me to treat it like a boxing match...you are fighting for your life from the first second. Can't afford to spend the first few minutes "getting into it" or you are knocked out cold😄

I hear you on the age thing Duncan! I’m stiff as a board when I get up most mornings haha. I’ve got to warmup before I get in the shower😂. And I can just see you in some hallway warming up now Duncan. I’m sure you have a lot of great memories and experiences from those days! And that’s so true I bet, if you weren’t on your game from the start, it could be over before you even knew it.

Good to hear the family is past the stomach bug. I don't use preworkout but definitely the equal in coffee. I use running shoes that were tried but not good for running. They become my gym shoes and casual shoes. I think you have a good warm up. Have a great weekend!

A Cindy workout with burpees, nice 👍 Good warm up too, very comprehensive. I’m a bit lazy and just tend to do 10 mins or so on the jump rope. Hits the legs, shoulders and wrists. If I’m feeling ambitious or a bit stiff in my back I’ll do some of the very same yoga stuff as you. Keep grinding brother and hope you feel better soon, looking forward to the navy seal 20 mins effort update 🤩

Man 10 minutes of jump rope would definitely have everything nice and loose👌. And I’ll have that NS effort up over the weekend. I’ll just say as way of a spoiler, but man, I’ve got to friggen fight for every extra rep. 120 in 20 minutes is hard stuff!

You passed the sock check, homie 🫡 great upload my friend. We're all so different. I despise warm-ups, but that's the reason I try to grind with an evenly spread out pace. You're progress has been more than considerable fitnesswise, so there's no need to change a working system.

Great intro summary David! Exceptional topic too. I remember when I started my Burpee journey, the muscle pain that I experienced was like no other. Specifically, my abdomen - Initially, I started second guessing myself on continuing Burpees - and others discouraged me. Knowing my body, I knew it had more to do with the fact that I never truly worked out my core. Always free weights without emphasizing a core regiment. My body adjusted, I improved my form, practiced, and within two weeks the pain was gone. Since then, I've not experienced that level of "discomfort." The warmup in this video is a great way to get burpees going. Salutations to all! Great vid as always David.

You even emphasize the snappy jump back to your feet. Very Burrpees King esk!
