This is so cool because Tim is using slap bass techniques on the low strings while finger picking the high strings. Both of those techniques are complicated enough on their own to learn. Not to mention how quickly his left hand is flying around the neck of the guitar and the notes are getting hit with flawless accuracy. A raw musician with so much passion to push the boundaries of what’s conventual. Love it!
@DownWithTheCygnus
8 ай бұрын
Not quite slap bass tech but thump tech. The main difference is that he is able to get 2 notes with his thumb by using an up-stroke instead of 1 slapped note. Nonetheless, a very innovative technique with many possibilities. I would highly recommend giving it a shot.
3:13 I love how you can see he starts head bobbing when the outro hits and then contains himself for the vid
Tim's hand independence and fretboard fluency is mindblowing. Not to mention, staying in time *while getting the pick* and switching from/to thumping-fingerstyle. Dudes on a whole other level.
This is genius level, codes have been cracked here. I’m pretty new to Polyphia and can honestly say I have never been impacted by music quite like this before. My brain is actually addicted to it. Downloaded latest 3 albums and pretty much locked in stank face from start to finish through each track. Thank you for the mind orgasms lads 🤟🏼🤟🏼

Know the feeling well. I only recently found out about Polyphia myself. Around Jan/Feb. Always a big music lover of many genres and the first time I heard them (Ego Death) It had the most profound effect on me. Its like every neuron in my head was lit up and electricity was flowing through my body. Recommend the older stuff too. "Inspire" and "The Most hated" are top notch. You can also get some of their stuff in HD format on HD tracks. Worth it if you have a High end system or some decent Head phones. ✌🤘
@BrianinSLCity

I was introduced to them about 4 years ago. I also like all different genres. Sort of drifted away from “rock” music. Polyphia reinvigorated my interest. By last 3 albums, are you including Renaissance or The Most Hated EP? Whichever you do not have, you should download also. You won’t be disappointed

Well we all just had to wait for Tim. In all seriousness though; How amazing is it that after half a century or more this one unassuming guy who locked himself away with a single minded purpose with no backing from anywhere or anyone should reach such heights and still think of his fans and come up with this method for tutorials. He has the unique ability to look inwards and outwards. WTF? Its great though.
The fact he so clearly had to stop himself from head bobbing in the ending solo is so funny ahhaha fav part of the song
I can see Tim again resisting the head-bopping urge, especially at 3:14
Playing insanely good music and doing magic tricks with the pick at the same time. Bravo, sir, you are a legend.

Yep if you watch a lot of both Scott and Tim’s individual play throughs of their songs you do begin to appreciate how they both tie in to the melody and it’s not complete without both parts. They’re both extremely talented for sure. I’ll admit Tim does have a robot-like appearance with his playing, everything’s fast and perfect, where I like Scott’s playing better, it’s smoother and more fluid, as if he doesn’t have to work hard for it. Very fun to watch both. Sorry tangent lol

this is one of those tim riffs that i cant stop coming back to and blasting at dangerously high levels in my ears
Love seeing what the silent hero of the strumming hand is doing. Orchestra-level work doing cross-genre techniques to get so many different sounds at once!

Thanks Tim. This was what I and many wanted to see. Such a great track on the new album.

Always love hearing the tracks separately. It's kind of hard to hear the different parts in the final song, but it's always nice to see the different riffs.
love the guitar bro, i got the TOD10 and now i want the 8 string version of it 💯
Your stuff never gets stale
the head bop on the outro makes it 😂 Everyone bops extra hard at that part of the song, it's instinct.
the end solo is so dope, he cant help but bounce his head even when recording a POV video

Your dedication to the guitar certainly paid off - you're an amazing player!
Love that we can witness the energy during the modulation at the end
Tim doing everything he can not to move his head to the groove

Okay, the way you pick up and put down that pick in the middle of a run is like a damn magic trick.
This is insane. The musicianship is unreal.
FAN REQUEST: Please reshoot your videos in POV, exactly like this one, but not with just Tim. This would also be great for those songs you only did visualizer videos for. Strap a GoPro to all four members of the band, and cut to each of them during their sickest parts of the song. You'll set the net on fire! Some wide shots of you guys with the cameras strapped to your foreheads would be good too, even if only at either the beginning, or the very end. PS - Loved when you couldn't stop yourself from a few head bobs, here and there, during the song.
this song has been on repeat for the last few days
So effortless! Like I know you practice till you don't have to think about it but I still find it insane how easy you make it look
