In this month's national park news roundup, we're covering all the delayed openings and closures caused by the unprecedented winter snowpack in the west. But it's not all bad news - lakes Mead and Powell are rising, and the Colorado basin states have finally come to an agreement over how to manage their water use. We also share some concerning animal-human interactions in national parks, and take a look at an illegal pot farm discovered in Death Valley, an occurrence that happens more often than you might imagine.

Kind of a shame how dead set the forest service is on killing stuff. There are many sanctuary farms, and zoos, that could have raised the bison baby, but we'd rather kill them, than use them as a learning tool.

How about instead let Mother Nature take its course and instead shoot the guy who choose to ignore the law and made it to where the mother abandoned the calf because of him.

I believe you mean the Park Service, not the Forest Service.... totally different agencies under two completely different departments.
Thank you for all the hard work and editing you’ve put into all of your videos. We always look forward to seeing them. And I’m very sorry that the calf ended up losing its life over a stupid human assistance

So glad to hear all the reminders of the wild animals in our parks. We saw some really risky behaviors from people all in the quest of a getting the best picture. They were lucky and got away with it on the incidences we witnessed but not all comes out well.
Thank you Jason for this information about a woman who got bit by a bat that had tabbies and she got it too but was so ok. Pot story in Death Valley and people left a mess there. That poor calf that got out down at the park. That’s sad. I would never touch a wildlife animal like that. Really nice that that grandson of that lady they both finished going to all the national parks. That’s nice her grandson took her. I congratulate them both.
When we were in a park in Canada last year, the rangers told us of a couple that were putting peanut butter on their kids hands so the bears could lick it off. Needless to say they were fined heavily.
Wow! I just can’t believe the parks flooding with all snow falling. It’s crazy! Our beautiful parks.
Always a useful and wonderful report! Love ‘em, Jason!

You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Boy, so much in this episode! And the need to pivot is constantly proven…just last week, 2 days before Mem Day weekend, had a 5 nite stay at Lassen cancelled (snow). Gotta love THAT timing. 😳 Otherwise…thanks for the Grandma Joy update..she rocks! Safe travels and hope the fire smoke isn’t too bad on your way to Alaska.
Love the grandma story!
Thanks for all you do.
As always, such great info!! The final story about the grandmother and her grandson is one I’ve noted on social media. Really tugs at my heartstrings for many reasons. Thank y’all, be well!
Thank you for all the information. Love your videos. They are always so helpful
Thanks for another very informative update. All the research you do will certainly help us on our travels. Happy Trails

Love the Grandma and Grandson story!! Visiting all the NPS, and as many of the smaller sites, is one of my goals. Taking as many of my kids with me as I can! Maybe one day I'll take my grandkids, too!

Nice, GOOD JOB
Love the NPS episodes! Wondering if there has been any updates/news on filming in a national park? My wife and I are heading out on a road trip this fall and are really hoping to capture our time in a few NPs! Would love to hear your insights! -Cody

Nothing yet - there's a bill in progress that would help fix the issue, but it's a bigger public lands bill, so who knows if it will stay in it.

I thought the no filming issue was directed at people who are using their videos for monetary gain. Are you a KZreadr?

Hopefully people will film & photograph incidents of people going too close to wildlife & or touching them. So the offenders can be prosecuted.
Jason, love your videos about NPS. Are they ever going to come out with an Android app for Parkwolf? Sounds like a wonderful app but leaves out so many of us Android users. Thanks.

We're already there.
I believe the calf was doomed from the start when mama left it in the river. I don’t understand how pushing a calf up the hill is going to cause it to be rejected by the herd.

A human touched it that’s how. The other bison can smell the human on the baby so now they don’t want it.
I believe it’s okay to grow pot on NPS land as long as you’re not filming for a KZread channel.
The drought is not over. This was a temporary relief.
It's people like that man touching a Bison calf that will ruin it for everyone. Many expletives are bouncing around in my head in reference to that human. I'm madder than a wet HEN.
Let's also. Not forget it was Grlworge Washington that inadvertently started the French Indian War.
They should have given the Buffalo calf to the Indians to raise instead of killing it!

Sounds good, but if that was a realistic option, I’m sure that they would have done it. I’ve met a lot of park rangers, and I can’t imagine any one of them wanting to kill a calf.
only carteleros plant pot in our national parks
I don't believe you about the pot farms, do you have an exact address😏
