Jason thanks for the hard work and dedication to the industry. I wish you would include more on the fiberglass trailer sector (much more). While I am biased towards them because the hulls (like watercraft) seem to last and last, yet year after year, they do seem to get the snub on RV Miles. We are on a 20 month wait list for an Escape 21NE trailer (towable) and thanks to you we bought a 2021 F250 to be the TV (see you have an impact). From Scamp to Oliver there are a lot of really nice options for the "Couple Campers", trailers that will last decades. Plus, I seem to recall fiberglass trailers tend to hold their value longer.

Another great video you two. The dip in values is likely seasonal. There's always an up and down with the season. But I could certainly see this coming season seeing a "Cooling phase" And *excellent* discussion regarding the QC of new RVs. The advisory to have any RV new or used inspected is excellent. Highly suggested whether it's a dealer-sold units or purchased from a private seller. It's solid advisory whether it's an RV, Car, Boat, Home, or anything really

Noticed your highlight comment about the 48v a/c on the Jayco van. Kinda like 12v refrigerators, folks don’t realize just how much d.c. air conditioning is going to change rv’ing. Much less power consumption and noise. Though it’d be a little wonkish, I’d love to see an in depth breakdown of these new d.c. appliances coming to the rv market. Thanks for another intriguing news segment

We just bought the new Winnebago EKKO w/Generator delete and extra batteries. It runs the 120v rooftop AC off the inverter for 3 hours continuous with its 6.5 KWh battery bank. I would love to see an energy consumption/efficiency comparison between 120VAC & 12-48VDC rooftop AC units. Include the solar and cycling of the AC unit, and it's good for an afternoon. I'm adding more solar and batteries so it will be good for a full day.

@@craighorner7801 The energy savings from a DC air conditioner are due primarily to their ability to vary the speed of the compressor (and blower) to match the demand, whereas 120v AC units are full power or nothing at all (on or off). It appears the future will be 48v, which seems to be a sweet spot between the increased cost of DC wiring (which is larger than AC wiring to carry the increased current) and the max safe voltage of 60, as established with electric car testing & systems.

@@jamesr208 Thanks James, and you don't have the losses from the inverter. Yes, I'm surprised that more RVs aren't going with 48VDC systems, as 12v cable requirements are huge due to the crazy high amperage.

My wife and I just purchased a new 5th wheel from Lazydays in TN. We went with Grand Design based on our research, you tube videos and comments from other owners. We spent more time doing our research and even hired an inspector. The dealership had everything ready for us when we arrived and the inspection found ONE real defect. There were several other items , about 4 in total, that needed addressing and were taken care of the same day. I hat a difference from the first time when we had 12 pages of defects and lost 8 months of use while repairs were being made. An educated consumer is better prepared.

Jason always great information. I ordered my holiday rambler Nautica 34 RX in December 2020 took delivery on April 28 of 2021. Just broke 4000 miles, I’ve had a great experience. Today only two minor problems. I consider myself lucky based on feedback I see on Facebook. I did have an independent RV inspector which I thought was huge. I agree with your statement is every RV manufacture should be judged on your personal experience.

I purchased in 2018 a brand new 2018 Winnebago Intent. This of course was pre pandemic. I have had a ton of issues. I was told it was made more affordable. That should have been a clue. I would have to write a book to list all the problems that I have/had. I wish I had known I could have it inspected before buying. I would still have my toy hauler! BTW the dealer on more than one occasion told me there was nothing ring with it! Once out of warranty I took it to my “go to” rv repair shop and they have fixed most everything except the Lippert hydraulic levelers. They are still trying to figure out what is wrong there.

Just picked up my 2022 Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser 19 ERD. I spent a week fixing many visible things like a heavy spare tire support strap hanging underneath by just one end. The two large wood screws holding the one end just pulled out because they had missed the wood support in the bed base by 4 inch’s! I shudder to think about what would have happened if that heavy strap fell off and a car behind me hit it. I also had a completely kinked black flush line where the lines went through the floor, and when I repaired it the black foam they had used to seal around the water lines underneath just simply crumbled and disintegrated. So I had to reseal all that as well. It is obvious they cutting corners and missing things at the factory, that’s scary!

Just yesterday a Tiffin Allegro Red, used 2018 33AA listed for 229K. This is nuts. Brand new showroom in early 2018 was 220K, if you waited till fall you would see new units that had not sold yet listed for 205K. 3 years old (basically 4 now) and 229K? We had planned to upgrade our coach next year, but now? Not a chance in hell.

There it is baby, the first publicly stated note on the decline of RV values. I firmly believe that by this time next year, used RV prices will tumble and in a significant way. Inflation and the overall health of the US economy are in a downturn that won't end anytime soon. Shortly after the turn of this new year, consumers will respond in bigger numbers and start to shed RV's and boats and whatever other toys they own in favor of paying mortgages and rent and feeding their families. My guess is inflation and the general state of the economy will cause an increase in used RV inventory and deflate prices below what one would consider a "back to normal" stabilization. Well said. That and let's talk warranty length and coverage or lack there of I should say. It kills me that you buy a RV and then you need to go spend a couple hundred dollars more so you can use it. Things like electrical surge protectors, water pressure regulators, leveling blocks just to name a few. I'm still puzzled why these items can't be built in during the manufacturing process. Then if your new to tow behinds you get to learn about the weight distribution hitch. Don't get me wrong I love my RV but do the folks that design these products ever actually take them out and use them in different parts of the country for more than a weekend and not on full hook ups?

Quality has been lacking for years in the camper,rv and mobile home industries. I knew whether i bought a brand new camper or rv i would have to fix it i was looking for an old gmc class a , found an abandoned 77 chevy cobra class c purchased it for 400 no title running no brakes main bearing went down on the way home and finished towing it home with my truck and a tow rope. My wife and i have started the restoration process, by our estimates well have 12k-14k in our rv most of which is replacing all the appliances , and making upgrades like overdrive on trans , solar and battery bank. Personally the old ones always looked cooler to me from the 50s -70s id rather see more restored but not everybody can do that. Also like owning the rv instead of payments on a new one, i buy parts instead, it has its pros and cons. Years of repairing roofs on rvs and mobile homes new and old realized there aint much difference the quality is crap😒. I've seen on KZread a few reports of dealers not allowing independent inspections now. And that, if true, is a very bad sign for consumers. I guess dealers know the demand is high enough that someone will buy a unit without inspecting it. These dealers represent the stereotypical "used car salesman" of the RV world.

We are huge proponents of flares for roadside emergencies. Yes they can be dangerous, but they also carry more weight when you see them on the road. People tend to obey them more and don't want to get thier car too close to a giant flaming stick.

Flares don't make a bit of difference. Distracted driving is distracted driving. If a person juggling 3 cell phones while piloting their Kia down the interstate at 78 MPH runs up the shoulder and kills you, a flare isn't going to stop them, Ask any emergency worker how many times they have been chased up into the weeds by drivers who completely ignore their full set of incredible LED lights.

New rvs are really bad. For what you pay they are just selling too many bad things. Dealerships do make a difference but many dealerships are just not good at customer support after the sale. With that said, both Rockwood and Flagstaff has been one of the best rvs in quality that i have seen. That's why i buy used rvs that no older than 2 years.

I purchased a used 2020 Entegra Qwest, built on the 2019 Mercedes chassis. It is a pre-pandemic coach. The quality and build is top shelf and it has be rock solid this entire season. I am a member of a ton of RV forums and FaceBook groups, not only Entegra, and to be completely honest, there are many, many, people who own 2021's who have had nothing but problems with them. I'm just referring to motorhomes. From sub six figures, up to and including $400,000 tandem diesel pushers. Many of these units have more than 15 problems and the owners are beside themselves as they are wasting time just sitting. There is truth in the 'pathetic' article as I read about these issues constantly, first hand. I realize that not all manufactures are in that boat, but many certainly are. Unfortunately, this is not going to bet better for a long time. Too many variables are at stake which affect the RV build. Great update as usual Jason. Appreciate the time!

During the pandemic I looked at several brand new RVs (some for me specific & others for my general interest) at Camping World from Class A diesel, gas, Class C, to a larger Class B, all from Thor. All had pathetic quality with broken, cracked, missing parts, and poor fit & finish. I wrote to the head of operations at Thor to brief Thor on what I was seeing, ..... no response, Thor doesn't seem to care. Conclusion for me: Stay away from buying a new Thor motorhome.

Some dealers suck. Some manufacturers suck. It’s not all, and hiding off the record, and putting it out there as dealers saying it’s all the manufacturers fault was really a bad move. As an Alliance RV Valor owner, I’ve noted many dealers didn’t know anything about these units (standard solar, air compressor, newly designed patio/gate) from forums/groups. At least two instances of dealers removing the the Lithium battery and putting in a lead acid battery. 😞 it’s like all that matters to dealer is to just get them out the door faster than a manufacturer. PS - Alliance did not speed up their line during pandemic. They did build a second line, but it runs at same speed as original line from what I have found talking to management at Alliance.

Jason, you ignore half the RV quality story. RV mfgrs. do two things - build the box and install the systems. From chassis to components, the RV builder just installs what is built by someone else. When will you address the supplier quality issue? For every builder flaw - leaky roof or structural problem with the box - there arelikely three complaints about RV systems not designed and built for sustained endurance on our bad/getting worse highways. And that dealer's comment was reprehensible. 'If they send me crap, all I can do is put it on the lot'...?!

Agree with you about the dealership response regarding poor quality rig's. I told my husband that if I were a dealer and recieved a poorly built RV it would be sent back to the manufacturer. Yes, I know people want it now, but it's really shady when the dealer puts the money before the quality. That in and of itself is an additional issue we're facing in today's world of shabby build's.
